An ocean dive to the pacific.
Aqua di Gio Profondo, the 2020 flanker of the Acqua di Gio line starts off surprisingly like rubbing alcohol. But patience rewards the wearer with a metamorphosis of captivating notes. As the fragrance dries down, the aquatic and citrus facets come alive, transporting the senses to the shoreline of a pristine sea. The salty nuances intertwine seamlessly, further enhancing the marine ocean-like experience. Seriously.
Around 20 minutes later, a gentle earthiness emerges, grounding the scent and adding depth. And an hour later, the original Acqua di Gio DNA gracefully resurfaces, now presenting a mineral-fresh twist, making Profondo a modern take on a timeless classic. It is best suited for day time but I could see anyone rocking this at night with no problem.
This is a great blue fragrance for men. It is manly, sexy, and versatile. But I still prefer Profumo many times over this. That being said, I got more compliments from women with this than Profumo, so it's a really great confidence booster. Funnily enough, a friend told me I have gotten more handsome, when the only change I had was fragrance.
However, Its real downside is its performance. Like most fresh fragrance, it is weak. Projects well for an hour on my skin. Longevity sits at 5-6 hours at best. Could last up to 7-8 if I were to remain mostly stationary.
Overall, 8/10. People love it more than I do when I wear it. But I genuinely enjoy the marine experience.
