Very helpful Review 8
After 4 or 5 years of purchasing generic designer fragrances today I discovered that I was clueless.
So, I live In Saudi Arabia, where summer temperatures usually exceed 50c (that’s over 122f for those of you who still don’t understand the metric system in 2021), these are scorching temperatures, you can literally cook a quick breakfast outdoor using just the sun’s heat.

I bought a brand new bottle of ADG Profondo, thinking that it was “summer” appropriate, I think it was about 46c or 47c if I’m not mistaken the day I first wore this to the office, I entered the office feeling fresh and motivated ,90 minutes later I couldn’t smell it, not even on my skin, maybe a faint hint but that was it, needless to say I was very disappointed, I really thought it would give me 4-5 hours at least, so I returned it to its box and kept it in a drawer thinking I would have to gift it to someone or even sell it, and came back to the only fragrance I know I can trust to last me at least 6+ hours in that searing heat, my beloved L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme.

Fast forward to November, it is considerably cooler now, temperatures range from 25c to 29c during the day, and my son has been wreaking havoc all over the house, he came to me holding a certain blue bottle in his hand, and I thought: Oh, look at that, I couldn’t possibly rate this after only one wear, could I? So, I decided to give it another go, and I was in for a huge shock…!!!

Right away, 5 hours after wearing it again for the first time in nearly 5 month a colleague of mine gave me a compliment…!!! and I could tell there was a nice scent bubble around me, it lasted for 7 hours on me that day and I kept wearing it every day ever since.

Speaking of the fragrance itself, mineral notes are weird, sometimes they come out sweet and sometimes they are bitter and very dry, however I think it was well blended here even if it is noticeable.

Notes detected by my nose: aquatic notes, mineral notes, citrus, lavender, musk and amber.

I would say it is blind buy safe, the overall feel of the scent isn’t offensive at all.

Performance is good for 6-7 hours with a sillage of about 2.

Versatility: this is a versatile fragrance that can work pretty much all year round provided you wear it at daytime.

Moral of the story: what might be summer for someone could turn out to be winter or fall for someone else, this is what I learned the hard way, temperatures ranging from 25c to 32c is what most people in Europe and North America call summer, not here though, where anything below 40c is considered “pleasant” lol, so these fragrances are designed with that “summer range” in mind, and in hindsight this is exactly why I find a lot of “winter” fragrances are so cloying even in the coldest days simply because it is never going to get cold enough for me to really enjoy them..!!

You will definitely know it’s Acqua Di Gio
It’s a “thicker, fuller” feeling ADG in the opening. A deeper, darker feeling version of the original comes out in the opening. A great sillage as well, in the first few hours.

As it dries down it transforms into what reminds me of Bleu de Chanel EDT. It’s done very nicely, and still hints of the original ADG. But that’s what dominates the mid-tones in my perspective.

I absolutely LOVE the dry down, though. The base notes shine out proudly, and almost feels like its reigniting the sillage.

Throughout the life (an easy 8 hours) this one shines. It’s all about if you like the ADG line. Personally, I prefer this over Profumo, as I don’t really like the incense note.

I’ll say projection is great for the first 2-4 hours reaching out over 3ft in radius, and sillage is there as well, leaving your scent trail wherever you go, but longevity shines on this one. Easily going 8+hours.

Best citrus aquatic frags
The best citrus aquatic frags imo. It's similar to the OG acqua di gio, but has more depth from minerals and make it more deep and solid. It's more like acqua di gio in eau de parfum concentration. It performs pretty well too, 7-9 hrs on my skin, and projects greatly in 1-2 hrs. You can wear it in hot situation, because it performs well with your body heat.

A must have aquatic staple
Added Acqua Di Gio Profondo to my collection. This one’s an interesting one: I would say this is one of the better choices for an aquatic feel on the market right now, considering budget and how well it gets the job done.

Here’s my initial take on Profondo:

Diving into the fragrance itself, it consists of an aquatic, fresh, citrusy profile, with top notes of bergamot and mandarin orange giving it its citrusy opening, with some cypress, lavender, rosemary, and patchouly in the heart and base notes, giving it a very fresh, clean feel.

However, you might be wondering to yourself, what about ADG Profumo instead? It’s true that the black bottle is amazing as well, but I think as a flanker, Profondo does the job better. Profumo is sort of the more serious brother compared to the Profondo—with base notes of incense and spicy notes at the top, it does give a more sophisticated and mature feel compared to Profondo, which is more lively and playful. I personally went with the Profondo over Profumo as I felt that as a STANDALONE aquatic fragrance, Profondo hits the mark more with a more fresh, citrusy, aquatic vibe, while Profumo has slightly darker notes that might not be for everyone.

The opening I did feel that the aquatic dominated a lot and came off a little strong, but an hour or so in it smells amazing. I do have something to comment about the longevity though: on a standard 5 sprays, I’m getting about 4-5 hours of performance which does leave more to be desired.

Needless to say, ADG Profondo is a scent I’m very pleased to add to my collection, and it will be my go-to aquatic fragrance for now (until I have the money to drop on LV Imagination )

Oceanic and Aromatic Fragrance
A blind-buy based on reviews, It's a great scent, Acqua Di Gio Profondo smells darker than the original AdG. If you like the original AdG you will like this one. The first smell you get a sweet, clean, cool and fresh sensation. I really enjoy the smell of this fragrance and I fell in love with this perfume. This scent is a deep dive into the depths of the sea. The dark blue bottle and metallic blue cap are inspired by the depths of the Mediterranean sea. This perfume reminds me of Mr.Burberry Indigo.
Highly recommended.
Thumbs Up.

A bit more aquatic than Profumo, with no incense and the sharpness that Profumo has. Def not bottle worthy. I prefer Profumo over this one.

The opening is nice, but the briny dry down in unpleasant to me. I actually liked it originally, but something flipped.

A slight improvement over the original but not all that different. Citrus, smooth marine notes and a musky drydown.

The Blue Fragrance of the AdG line. If you like the original and bleu de chanel with an aquatic touch you will also like this. Very safe.

This is a little more aromatic than the previous ones. Lavender, rosemary, aquatic notes and some bergamot. It's nice.

The real teenage dream - flat and screaming, boring and artificial, juvenile and overpriced of course. Better buy Chrome Extreme
