D'Artagnan! How dare you talk to me like that, you! (and smack 'em)
Bright and fruity leather! Who knew such a thing existed? I read a review that called it "sweaty apples" and laughed because... it's not wrong. The saffron adds a little "je nais se quois" to the overall composition. Like a hint of pretty gasoline. Fruity leather, sweaty apples and pretty gasoline. I'm not making sense but these are real impressions. Pretty loud sillage on me. Worth trying if leather scents are your thing.

What an odd duck!
Well, the drydown is definitely reminiscent of some of the other Imaginary Authors base notes. I've seen reviews saying lipstick, face powder, old paper, glue, playdough.... I can smell all of those which is typical for orris-centered fragrances. Dry smelling like warm wax and dust. Candles left in a wooden drawer. I mean, it's interesting but I don't see wanting to walk around smelling like paper dust.

It's gonna be a Yikes from me
Was I expecting this to be a typical patchouli and rose combo? Probably, but that's not the case this time. I don't smell anything foul like some other reviewers, but I also don't smell anything particularly lovely. I'm trying to get away from assigning gender to perfumes but... this does smell like something more suited to a person with masculine energy. It's very YANG. Pungent, hot and slightly metallic. I don't know what costus smells like but that must be what's making this atypical and slightly barnyard. Somewhat herbal flowery but in a challenging "you looking at me?" way. You would need quite the intense personality to make a signature out of this one. I feel like it's slapping my nose.

How uneasy I feel...
Reminiscent of Atelier Vanille Insensee but not *quite* as nice. Memoirs Of A Trespasser is a bit more woody and a bit less nuanced. A dry smoky vanilla that sticks in my throat. Underneath it all there is a note that reminds me of stinky feet walking around inside a log home. Something about it makes me feel anxious. Not for me but it might be right for somebody who's seeking a dry unsweetened gourmand.

Dessert mint
I liked this more than I expected. Minty for sure, but also creamy. Definitely a gourmand. Fresh, not overly sweet. One of the very few mint-centric perfumes that doesn't make me think of oral hygiene products, so it gets extra points for that. Smells like real mint leaves muddled with real sugar. It must be the ambergris that gives the drydown a creamy quality. An invigorating and aromatic gourmand that could be worn in any season or weather.
