Lost in the past
The 90s and even 2000s versions of Amarige were and are still a masterpiece. Then in 2018 L’interdit came out, and stole the soul out of Amarige. It seems silly, but the new reformulation lacks in Dominique Ropion signature vanillic amber accord. That base that peeks even though Portrait of a Lady from Frederic Malle. It is probably still there in the deep drydown of Amarige , but so light, so faint. I’m crushed.
This scent still has a magical opening and heart - a flower bouquet that is so unique, so different from what is in any trend possible. There is a reminiscence of hair spray, but not as chemical as most scents from the same age. Mimosa and tuberose- unforgettable.
Not blind buy safe, but surprisingly easy to wear.
Classic neroli cologne grace
Delightful scent. Light, slightly green, very gracefully crafted. Can be found on a deep discount.
It opens up very reminiscent to one of my favorite smells of all time- Tom Ford Neroli Portofino EDP. This mix of citrus and neroli is so classic and universal. Bohemian Orange Blossom from Atelier Cologne also begins with this accord.
In about 15 or 20 min Bergamota and Orange Blossom starts to sweeten up a bit and go into fresh honeyed white florals.
Everyone can enjoy this positive blend that instantly lifts up mood, perfectly unisex. Light and airy. Of course we’re not talking about longevity here- it’s 3 hours the most on skin. But it’s totally worth reapplying it throughout the day, because the composition is in fact quite complex for what it is. Very well done.
On the bottle it says Eau de Parfum- but it’s definitely cologne style.
If you like Jo Malone classic collection scent esthetic- you’ll like this.
Wildflower honey
Have you ever smelled fresh mountain honey? Bees up in the highlands don’t get a steady one crop diet. They gather all the flowers they found in different temperature zones and honey smells like a heaven’s mix. Complex and pure at the same time.
That is what I smell off my skin in the heat. It has a delicate wind trail and stays with me all day. Radiating from beneath a light t-shirt.
But when the temperature closes to moderate or lower - I digress. All the charm is gone. We’re back in the end of 20th century, dusty hairspray and sadness. Even the oakmoss doesn’t save the situation. Personally I’m a big fan of this accord.
One of a kind
I have a bottle of this for 3 years. Got it for a steal and, firstly, didn’t appreciate it at all.
The power of this blend is comparable to the works of Alessandro Gaultieri. It’s a green powder bomb and bitter musk that stays all day with you, knocks people’s socks off and confuses.
The feeling of super strong bitter green tea brew from the day before yesterday. That was a type of tea that leaves tangy sensation on the roof of your mouth. It was left at the table and forgotten until the leaves turned all dry again and the mug has a dark film of calcium on the sides.
Niche- absolutely, mass appealing- not even close. Vintage vibes of 90s float in the air.
The bubble that Asian Green Tea produces is complex and iridescent. You can smell rose, violet water, animalic blackcurrant shades of cat’s pee, matcha powder and a boatload of musks from the olden days.
Real treasure to enjoy as a perfume enthusiast, but I still don’t dare wearing it out and about
Blast of positivity
The smell of orange upon peeling it. Of course it’s so juicy that it sprays out the juice and oils in the air and douse the nostrils with freshness.
Every time I spray Arancia di Capri I start to drool . Delicious, photo realistic citrus. That’s all it is. Bright and sweet. It’s impossible not to have any reaction to this blend. You ether love it to bits, or truly hate. If citruses are not your jam- don’t even try.
The downside of this masterpiece is that the longevity is maybe 2 to 3 hours the most
