The Nobler Sister of Black Opium
As a big fan of YSL Black Opium and having owned several flankers of it, I was on the lookout for something similar but a bit more refined for a long time. Luxury perfumes don't develop as beautifully and tend to get stuck on one note, so I went searching.

That's how I stumbled upon V Canto Lucrethia. Just the bottle captivated me with its golden cap and luxurious red velvet. When I tested the perfume for the first time, I was surprised at how different it was from Black Opium. It goes hand in hand in one direction, but is much more elegant and complex.

The scent opens with a note of sugarcane that isn't actually present, like a heavily sweetened cold brew in summer, but it doesn't taste too sweet. The sweetness of the pear is quite noticeable, and you can sense the coffee, which only comes out stronger later. Over time, the notorious bay leaf joins in. I was afraid of this note because it immediately makes me think of soup, but fortunately, it doesn't disturb and rounds everything off nicely. After a while, the true magic begins. Here, this fragrance particularly differs from Black Opium. It evolves, and depending on the weather, different scent notes greet you more or less.

However, the base note remains the same, a warm, cozy vanilla dream with benzoin, and the coffee is like a forgotten stain on a blouse, reminding you that you treated yourself to a cold brew at lunch.

All in all, you can't expect much from this perfume; Paolo Terenzi is known for reinterpreting the scents of others. But the way he has reinterpreted the original pleases me very much.

Whenever I feel like being a classy city girl again, I always return to this fragrance.
