Is the TikTok hype justified?
A few weeks ago, I was browsing TikTok.
Suddenly, I came across a video on my For You page introducing this new fragrance.
It was said to be the "best fragrance of all time".
But that's nothing new, as you see such claims every day.
However, it didn't stop there; more and more videos kept appearing.
Even larger perfume influencers that I enjoy watching in my free time were promoting the new Giardino Firenze by MissingPiece.
I searched everywhere for possible negative reviews, but every piece of feedback was overwhelmingly positive, as if a new masterpiece had been created.
So I paid 9€ to test it out myself.

SCENT:

Once sprayed, I immediately thought of Erba Pura.
A fragrance that I absolutely hate and despise.
But it’s not as piercing, not as aggressive, or intense.
As if someone had mixed in some sunscreen.
Lighter, pleasant, wearable.

Anyone who doesn't like the DNA of Erba Pura will logically not find their signature scent in Giardino Firenze, as the original DNA remains the same. Just not as bold, but rather toned down.
I personally probably wouldn't wear Giardino Firenze in my everyday life, but it is still a good fragrance.
Just like with Erba Pura, I would say that women can wear this just as well, if not better.

The sillage and longevity are good to very good. Perhaps slightly worse than with Erba Pura, but completely sufficient for summer.

The price/performance ratio is very good, as it is better than the one it is derived from and costs only a fraction of that.

He's perfect… wait a minute!
By chance, I stumbled upon Marc Gebauer's perfume videos two years ago. Back then, they were all with Herbert Stricker.
As a personality on YouTube, he was quite likable, but it quickly became clear that Marc doesn't understand much about perfume.
He mostly repeated what he heard, and when he did come up with something himself, it was usually complete nonsense.
So I was surprised when he released his own fragrances.
Finally, I got around to testing the Orange Flamingo. It was described as fruity-sweet with very good longevity and sillage.
My expectations were accordingly quite low, as I assumed I would find something similar to Erba Pura. I actually don't like that scent at all. However, it turned out completely different.

The first time I sprayed it on and…
what..? Is this Orange Flamingo by Marc Gebauer? Smell again.. smell again.. smell again..
It was… perfect.
Simply perfect.
Fresh laundry with a hint of orange and bergamot.
I had to laugh.
Laugh because it was sooo good.
It reminded me of the warm days in Spain.
My young years in the 2000s in Spain.
Where we went every summer.
I was truly in love; I had found the perfect perfume.
I wore it all day and kept smelling my arm.
Suddenly, a 3-hour car ride was ahead.
Finally over, smell again..
Huh???
What???!
No way??
I assumed the orange would slowly fade based on the notes.
However, everything fresh, citrusy, fruity was gone.
Did I accidentally spray something from my mother?
It smelled completely different.
Floral.
Floral, floral, floral.
Suddenly, I smelled like a 10-year-old girl.
Xerjoff Accento was allowed to continue, as it was just too floral for me.
As everyone should know, this is one of Marc Gebauer's favorite scents.
And over time, it becomes more and more like this.
I am really disappointed that this fragrance takes such an enormous turn.
Sure, it’s winter and you can try it again in summer.. but the top note still won’t last longer because of that.
I claim that this scent is veeeeery pleasing.
Despite the strong longevity and sillage, it’s very hard not to like it, especially with the top note.
It doesn’t clash; it just smells clean, as if you accidentally sprayed yourself with your laundry detergent.

Initially unisex, from the heart note on, it’s for women.
I am really not someone who wears typically masculine scents and needs them to be strong.
But I can’t imagine for the life of me that guys, and especially not men, can rock Orange Flamingo.
Don’t get me wrong.
The scent itself is still great, hence the good rating.
However, I would much rather smell it on my girlfriend than on myself.
You can try it out for yourselves.
The longevity is indeed very good, as is the sillage.
But that’s logical when you consider the oil concentration of 40%.

The bottle is quite nice, 8/10.
The price is quite steep at €200/100ml.
Especially since there is no smaller size available for purchase.
But Marc is exclusively dealing with niche fragrances, so the high price was to be expected.
I recommend everyone to try Orange Flamingo.
However, do it first via decant.
I am sure it will either please you or your partner very much.
I hope you enjoyed my review.
I would be very happy about a rating or a response; I read everything.

PDM has done it again!
When I found out that Parfums de Marly was releasing a new perfume, I was immediately excited.
It is my absolute favorite brand in the world of perfume, and I already own either the full bottle or individual samples of almost all their scents.
I also ordered a 10ml decant right away to test it thoroughly.
I was very impressed from the very first spray.

Althaïr is a scent that smells exactly as you would imagine when someone describes it to you.
The entire progression is very interesting, and at every stage, it simply smells great.

It starts with bergamot and orange blossom. At this point, it is still very fresh, and you could really think you could wear it even in warm temperatures.
After about 2-5 minutes, you can also perceive the cinnamon.
This adds a certain sweetness.
From this moment on, the fragrance becomes deeper and cozier.
The freshness recedes, and the cinnamon blends with the vanilla, which slowly but surely becomes more prominent and moves to the forefront.
Suddenly, it turns woody, and you wonder: What's going on now?
You also gradually notice the praline, but from there on, vanilla and sweet woody notes dominate until the end.
The longevity is remarkably good; it easily lasts 9-10 hours.
If you own the bottle and get more per spray than from a decant, you can definitely get even more out of it.
The sillage is also good compared to other perfumes, but not as good as the longevity.

I would say that Althaïr is very pleasing. Despite the sweetness, it doesn't clash at all.
I am convinced that you could even wear it as an office scent on cold days, as it exudes a certain maturity and authority.
Even though it is considered unisex, I still find it hard to imagine it on women.
I would recommend it for guys and gentlemen between 18 and 40 years old.

When I first saw the bottle, I wondered why they used such an unattractive brown.
But once you wear it, you realize that this color perfectly reflects the scent.
The sweet-gourmand, the vanilla, and the wood.
Suddenly, everything makes sense.
Strangely enough, I wear it every time with brown/cream clothing.
The 10ml sample is already empty after 2 months, which is why I need to get the bottle.
However, only next autumn, as Althaïr is really only for the cold season, and that is now (hopefully) slowly winding down.
Parfums de Marly definitely doesn't have another scent that smells quite like this.
They tried something new, and it worked.
I would say that Althaïr, along with Herod, are the best scents from the brand.
The price is high, but it is also upper niche.
You really can't complain about that.

Is this supposed to be Aventus?
About 4 months ago, I ordered this fragrance blindly.
I have Aventus decants at home, as well as various clones.
However, when I saw the hype surrounding the Limited Edition and that it has an 8.9/10 on Parfumo, I had to jump on it.
After all, it is even rated better than Aventus, and even the H/S seemed unbeatable.

When the fragrance finally arrived and I could smell it, I was horrified.
What?! What is this?! Yes
Those were roughly my first thoughts.
I detected neither pineapple nor anything else.
The only thing you could smell was smoke.
Smoke, smoke, and more penetrating smoke.
I was honestly shocked.
It had nothing to do with my Aventus decants.
Even weeks later, nothing changed.
I wore it now and then but didn’t feel really comfortable.
It ended up being a Christmas gift.
However, I made a small decant of it.

Now, about 4-5 months later, the scent has changed.
The penetrating smoke is not as extreme as it was at first.
I still don’t perceive the pineapple, nothing fruity.
However, it has now taken on the freshness of Aventus.
At least after about 50 minutes.
Club de Nuit Intense Man Limited Edition has a strong herbal touch, which for me has nothing to do with Aventus.
At least with Aventus since 2018; unfortunately, I never smelled the old batches, but if they are supposed to smell like this one, then the new ones are significantly better..

In conclusion, I can say that this one has 80% similarity to Creed Aventus after the dry down, if I had to put it in numbers. Right after spraying, 0%.
Very unusual due to the strong smoke and herbal note.
The longevity is good and for a fresh scent, even very good.
Sillage is also very good.
The bottle is okay, nothing outstanding.
The guys liked the scent a lot, while the girls liked it less. For their taste, it’s too smoky and rather unbearable.
I can understand this opinion very well, but I have since found a liking for the scent. Not as an Aventus clone, but as a fragrance of its own. I can also understand those who say it’s a 10/10 scent.
It’s just not for everyone.
Therefore, I do NOT recommend it, as I see Montblanc Explorer and L’Aventure Intense Man as better alternatives if you are not willing to spend so much money on Aventus.

Montblanc Explorer is much more pleasant, is received much better by the female gender, and is also easier to wear. Moreover, it is another €25 cheaper than this one.

L’Aventure Intense Man does not need 50 minutes to get to Aventus.
It achieves it from the start and is also not as unusual, as it is really 95% Aventus, just a bit fruitier.
It also costs €10 less than CDNIMLE, and I am very surprised that it only has 33 ratings here on Parfumo, even though I believe it is the best Aventus clone.

He Simply Can
Even though I am quite new to the perfume business and don't quite understand the various fragrance notes, I feel compelled to share my opinion here.

As can be easily seen from my top ranking, I am very taken with the 2 Layton.
I have worn both frequently and wanted to find out for myself which of the two is the better one.

While the Layton makes you think of a sweet apple pie, the Exclusiv has only a slight sweetness that offers a perfect interplay with the vanilla.
It is more masculine than the regular Layton, smelling riper, richer, and more mature.

With the regular Layton, I picture a teenager holding hands with his girlfriend, taking a stroll through the city during the Christmas season.
With Christmas markets and all that.

The Layton Exclusiv is worn by a man in his mid to late 20s, who goes out for a fancy dinner with his wife on their anniversary.

For me, the Layton Exclusiv is the perfect evening perfume.
It would be a waste to wear it as an office scent during the day because it would lose its specialness.
It's also too soft and not fresh enough for that.
I would say it's suitable for autumn, winter, and cold spring.

As harsh as it sounds, it's not for losers and weaklings.
It exudes strong self-confidence, grooming, and masculinity.
I wouldn't wear it under 18; it's ideal from the mid-20s onward.

Now to the evaluation criteria.
I have described the scent as best as I could.
If the listed criteria are met and you like the scent, then you rock it, and it’s a 10/10.

The longevity is very good, easily 8 hours, and even longer if not more. Better than the regular Layton.
On clothing, it lasts a solid 4-5 days and doesn't become less intense, 9/10.

The sillage is good, for this scent even very good because it is not aggressive but rather gentle, 8.5/10.

We don't need to say much about the bottle; it's a Parfums de Marly, so logically a 10/10.
I don't know of any bottle that looks more beautiful and elegant.
It not only looks that way, but it is also very high quality (for those who have never held a PDM bottle in their hands).

The price is a thing, €200 for 75ml and €245 for 125ml.
Very proud, no question.
As a student, it's obviously a huge amount of money, but it's not suitable for them anyway.
A man like described earlier is easily willing to spend a bit more for such a perfume.
You also have to consider that 125ml is not exactly a small amount. ;)
