Timeless, unique, invigorating, refreshing
This is a blind spray for me. If I am not sure what I want my fragrance for the day to be, this is always a safe bet. It is unique--at least in 2025, maybe not in 1998--and not too cloying or offensive for anyone around you. It is invigorating and energizing. I smell this in the morning and I am ready to chip away at my goals for the day! At first there is a strong note that could be seen as offensive to some, but that quickly goes away. My only complaint is the longevity and sillage which I hear used to be better. Even so, longevity and sillage are slightly above average I'd say. I found a 4.2oz for $43. At that price, this is a hell of a good value!
Good performer, not my taste
Title says most of it. I found this to be a bit overwhelming, heavy and thick. For a somewhat similar basenote, I much prefer Explorer Platinum, though this has less of that green or some say dill than that. I found this punchy, in your face, harsh and nauseating. It lasts, and a little goes a long way. The wood character it has is deep and musty, almost like decaying wood to me. It is unique as far as I am aware.
My favorite Dunhill Signature
This fragrance is just what I was looking for. It is original, floral yet manly and its deep and dark without being too incense-like or smoky. A few of the reviews of Egyptian Smoke have sounded like this, but I think this might be more floral, maybe just a tad sweeter, and a little less smoky. I have been over spraying it just because I love it so much, the smell makes me feel like I cannot get enough. It might be basic and linier for the more niche enthusiast, but it is a unique smell IMHO.
Performance is great. It lasts 6 hours or more on the skin, though gets weaker over that time. Sillage seems good too, I can certainly smell this prominently for a while without putting my nose near where I sprayed it. But this is with 4 sprays.
It reminds me a bit of an old fashioned with bourbon, muddled maraschino cherry and orange. It has those darker red fruit notes to it and maybe some citrus, but nothing tropical or too sweet! Id almost say blood orange. Its like a bourbon with small bit of honey sweet, not like the more trendy confectioner/baked goods or vanilla sweet you get from some annoying designer fragrances that are currently popular. I would say its versatile and unobtrusive. I would have a hard time imaging someone being put off by this scent.
The floral note makes me think of rose, but its nothing like Burberry Garden Roses. Its more manly and it is not youthful but in comparison Garden Roses smells like a grandma to me.
I get the suede note, like a clean pair of new suede shoes. This exudes class, without being pretentious or in your face. This is for the sigma in the best way possible. Someone who doesn't follow trends, who is stable and confident in themselves, maybe in between introvert and extrovert, with a unique artistic side.
You can find these in the $50 range. I wonder how long that will last. I stocked up on a few! At that price it gets full stars for value!
