Your favorite unscented toiletries? 0

If I'm wearing fragrance I don't really want anything else competing with it, so I try to use unscented products. Sometimes they're hard to find. My favorites are:

Dr. Bronner's soap

Certain Dri antiperspirant

Eucerin Advanced Repair Body Cream (I'm told this might reduce sillage though)

I've just ordered Vanicream face lotion, shampoo, and conditioner.

I'd love recommendations for other good unscented products if anyone wants to share!

I know what you mean, but as far as unscented hair products that actually are good for my hair, that's really tough to find. My hair is pretty finnicky and only responds well to a few brands that have pretty distinctive fragrances. For everything else, these are my choices:

O'Keefe's Working Hands hand cream
CeraVe Body Lotion
Secret Unscented Antiperspirant
HadaLabo and Namerakahanpo face products
Anessa sunscreen

Completely agree with this. My hair is very thin and fine and naturally curly, I have seborrheic dermatitis and I follow curly girl method so fragrance free products that would fit to that combination are impossible to find...even in my home country Finland which is fragrance free product paradise because fragrances aren't culturally accepted 😂 So yeah, hair products are extremely tricky. Same with non-tinted facial sunscreens for greasy skin with mineral filters or new generation chemical UV filters, impossible to find a fragrance free one.

But other fragrance free stuff I've found great for my skin type (seborrheic dermatitis, extremely greasy):

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil

Aveeno Moisturizing Body Lotion

Aco Rich Hand Cream Fragrance Free

Favora Strenghtening Eye Gel

Olivia Klein Hydra Spray Toner

Pure & Care Niacinamide + Panthenol Serum

Orion Probicare Pro Caring Face Cream

Nivea Sensitive Day Cream SPF15

Bats Roll-on Antiperspirant

Triple Dry Classic Antiperspirant

Änglamark Sun Lotion SPF30

Oh, good working unscented hairproducts are the hardest to find! I find there's a difference though in scented hair products of which the scent lingers and the ones of which the scent disappears, so that it won't interact with my perfume.

I use Virtue 6-in-one styler. It has a strong herbal scent when you apply it, but I apply it to wet or damp hair and the scent is gone after blowdrying and for fixation I use Wella Grip Cream which is also lightly scented but it doesn't linger.

For my body I use Ceravé unscented bodylotion and for my face a tinted moisterizer from Collistar with SPF 30 which does have a very light scent, but I can't smell it after application and it certainly doesn't interact with my perfume.

Deo: Deoleen 0% (unscented)

O'Keefe's Working Hands hand cream

Oh, I love this. I keep it in my work bag and car. Fabulous this time of year if you're constantly washing and sanitizing!

Right? I'm actually buying it in bulk because I'm so worried they'll stop making it or delivering to my country. Every hand cream here is so heavily perfumed.

Depends where you are located. In most European countries there is DM, a drugstore chain which offers a lot of scent free products, BALEA med e.g. Excellent quality and value for money. There are also unscented shampoos from the same line.

Other options are farmacy cosmetics like Avene or Eucerin for example.

How interesting! Never heard of this chain and brand before. Do they have an online store that would ship to EU countries? Do they have any sulphate & silicone free unscented shampoos? The only sulphate & silicone free unscented shampoo that I know was from a Finnish brand called  LV but it was unfortunately discontinued a couple of years ago and haven't found one to replace it ever since.

A little update since we all seem to be in the market for unscented hair products. Since posting this, I received my Vanicream unscented shampoo and conditioner and I'm very pleased so far. My hair is fine, oily, and mostly straight. The shampoo degreases well and the conditioner does a great job of detangling without being too heavy.

@Lempi They sell online only in countries, where they also have physical shops. Unfortunately, they don't have shops in Finland (yet), but in case you travel south, I highly recommend it. But careful, it's quite addictive 😄.

Here's a link to their website with a map:

Yeah, i would kill for an unscented curly hair routine.

For my body, I use A-Derma (Exomega), Uriage or Clarins (lightly perfumed but very efficient)

Yes, agreed that unscented hair products would be nice, but I don't think drugstore shampoo and conditioner do a good job compared to professional products. When I stopped using drugstore shampoo, my hair was really transformed for the better. Would never go back at this point.

I use REF (professional) shampoo (silver shampoo for my gray hair), it has a lovely smell while washing, but it also doesn't linger so then I don't mind it being scented and I enjoy the smell when washing my hair. I fortunately can do with washing my hair once a weak since I don't dye it anymore.

I think it totally depends on the hair type and also on the ingredients of the hair cair product. I personally haven't found any professional hair cair products (if we're talking about the ones that are sold in hair salons) that would be ok with my hair because all of them usually contain silicones and sulphates. Silicones are too heavy and make product build-up and they also don't really condition the hair, they are just making it feel silky but not really fixing any actual problem. Sulphates are too harsh for curly fine hair and sensitive scalp. My current favourite silicone and sulphate free products are actually from really cheap brands. 😂 Too bad they have nothing unscented atm though.

When I had to wash my hair more often, I always had the feeling that changing shampoos worked the best. Don't know why but all shampoos and conditioners that I used without sometimes using another one (type, brand etc.) for a change, made my hair look awful.

I think it's a very common issue. I even had a shampoo that made my hair look awful at the second use. Sulfate and silicon free, made for curly hair... At the second use, it made me look like I washed my hair with French fries grease.

I think most drugstore shampoos (and some professional ones) don't do a good enough job to really remove oil and product build-up. If they're sulfate free, or if they have some gimmicky moisturizer or oil, they're worse than just using water alone. For me the Redken Volume Injection and the Kerastase Densifyque paired with a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks, are the only ones that work. Once I found these, I can go for 4-5 days with great looking hair.

Yes, I know. I don't think silicons are always a bad thing by the way, if you just take in consideration that it only works on the outside, but that goes for everything. Hair is dead material, scalp and roots are what matters and nothing, coming from the outside (like hairproducts), can do something to make it more healthy, it can only look more healthy maybe. Best to eat healthy, drink enough water (too bad about the plastics in there though Smile) etc....

Yes that's correct, sulphate free shampoo doesn't remove product build-up. If wanting to avoid build-up, all ingredients in the hair products should be water soluble, which means avoiding silicones, waxes and certain types of heavy oils. Unfortunately I know nothing about what to do when wanting to leave the hair unwashed for several days because I have seborrheic dermatitis so I must wash my scalp 1 - 2 times a day to prevent excess yeast growth. But most likely for people with normal scalp lighter products that don't weigh the hair down would work several days.

That is also absolutely right. Heavy condition agents like silicone surely make the hair feel great and silky and easier to detangle etc. but does nothing to the actual condition of the hair. Instead it can give a false feeling of the hair being in a better condition than it actually is so it's more like a makeup for hair. What helps with getting the hair in better condition is to treat it well which means right inner nutrition and not using too harsh chemicals or treatments too often (for example heavily washing shampoos, bleach, permanents, flat irons, hot blow dries...) 👍

Naturium Glow Getter body wash and Trader Joe's unscented body butter!

Urtekram (organic), Avene and La Roche Posay all offer excellent unscented skin- and haircare products. I've tried shampoos from all of these brands and was quite happy with the results. Urtekram also offers an unscented hair conditioner.

If you live in the US though, you'd better be quick. They're all European brands and from April 9th the US will charge 25% import tax, which will make these products considerably more expensive.

Of all these, I found Urtekram the best (for hair). Now I wash my hair once a week with REF silver shampoo without any problems (maybe because I only wash my hair once a week).

I have very sensitive skin and, when it comes to body products, I even react to Avene and La Roche Posay sometimes whereas I can always use the white Dove soap-bar without any problems.

'Hypo allergenic' doesn't garantee no allergic reactions by the way, it only reduces the chance to get an allergic reaction.

Pray for me. I just looked up tariff rates on my favorite products after checking on my retirement fund.
