I once saw/met ...
by DarkMatter | Off Topic
...As a young child, John Lennon's sister Julia used to babysit me. I've been a guest on a TV show with Vanessa Feltz (who was lovely when the camera was running and terribly rude when it wasn't). I've seen loads of famous people around with living in central London but those two are my "claims to fame" lol.

Quotes.....
by DarkMatter | Off Topic
...My all time favourite quote is by Oscar Wilde from The Ballad of Reading Gaol: Yet each man kills the thing he loves By each let this be heard. Some do it with a bitter look, Some with a flattering word. The coward does it with a kiss, The brave man with a sword!Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.Mark TwainBetween two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.Mae WestBy all means let's be open-minded, but not so open-minded that our brains drop out.Richard Dawkins

Anyone watching "Spiral" or "Le juge est une

...I tried to get into it, but just couldn't. :( A TV show that I absolutely adore and have just finished watching the second season is The Bridge (the Danish/Swedish original version not the US remake). The first season is available on Netflix.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by DarkMatter | Parfumo Community
...I only just noticed this topic! Everyone has been so welcoming so I feel I should introduce myself. I live in London, UK with my husband, two children (girl 14 and boy 11) and a budgie called Lucifer. Lucifer turned up on our doorstep about three weeks ago, someone lost her! Anyway, we have been advertising everywhere to let people know we found her, but somehow she ended up with a huge cage, lots of toys and the children named her Lucifer as it means something similar to "angel of light". She's a beautiful white lady, so the name stuck!I have about 180 perfumes and as Pia says in her post (hiya Pia!) I am not finished buying perfumes yet! My mother used to collect old (empty) perfume bottles and she always had certain perfumes she wore at different times of the year and for different occasions. I love all sorts of types of perfume and can't ever tie myself down to certain groups. At the moment I'm starting to discover some sweet gourmands which I never thought I would. I suppose if I had to narrow it down to my absolute favourite type it would be anything that has a "dark and sensual" soul. I don't display any of my perfumes at home. I have specially bought storage drawers for them. This is why I love the way I can submit photos here as I can enjoy the beauty of my collection without having to risk them. I very often wear more than one perfume during a 24 hour period as the weather, time of day and my mood shift. I am a member of Fragrantica, some of you might remember me as DarkClarissa, but I was ill for a long time, so wasn't there for a long time. I have only just got my socialising online back on track. I'm disabled so the internet is a lifeline for me to meet new and interesting people. To be honest, I'm enjoying it more here as I like the set up and the people! Here's a picture of our baby girl:

What do you like best on Parfumo?
by DarkMatter | Parfumo Community
...I'm fairly new here but am a member of both BN and Fragrantica. In my first few weeks I have, inevitably, been making comparisons. The things that make Parfumo so much more inviting for me are:1. Having my own "page" that is customisable. This makes it feel more like home.2. Being able to submit pictures of my beloved perfumes, this panders to my artistic personality.3. Having my own blog here. I love this idea, I can wax lyrical about all of the things that are on my mind and get comments and feedback from the community.4. The one thing that has stood out from other sites, WITHOUT A DOUBT, is that Parfumo is the friendliest of all the perfume sites!

Cocoa-centric perfumes?
by DarkMatter | Perfume Recommendations
...I keep getting an error message when I attempt to checkout on PK Perfumes website, it doesn't actually say, but I think they mustn't ship to the UK which is very disappointing, I was going to purchase their "discovery pack" as loads of their perfumes sound amazing! I've written to them to find out because my interest is seriously piqued now. :DEDIT: The lovely Paul Kiler wrote back to me super quickly! So I have now placed an order for his discovery pack and was so tempted to buy loads more, but I have resisted until I know which ones I want first. One of the samples is, of course, "Violet Chocolatier". His "Gold Leather" and "Red Leather" sound amazing as well as "Dirty Rose". I'm really excited to receive them now!

Cocoa-centric perfumes?
by DarkMatter | Perfume Recommendations
...Hayven:PK perfumes has one called violet chocolatier. The cocoa note is very dry, but you have to like violets of course. The perfume is not as sweet as the notes sound.Violets are beautiful as long as they're not too sweet, so this sounds like it might be right up my street. Thank you! :D

Cocoa-centric perfumes?
by DarkMatter | Perfume Recommendations
...Dulcemio:How about "Chocolat Amere"? I sampled it years ago and remember liking it.I need to sample Borneo too.Have you ever tried "Neonatura Cocon"? I don't recall it being very sweet."Neonatura Cocon" is one that I looked at but it seems impossible to find anywhere to buy it! It's not available from Yves Rocher any more and I can't find it for sale on eBay or Amazon :( However, joy of joys, "Chocolat Amere" is readily available as a sample from Lucky Scent or in various sizes from the Il Profvmo website, so I shall be getting a sample first with my next Lucky Scent order. Thank you for this suggestion. It does seem as if it might be a bit of a "love or hate" sort of fragrance so I am not tempted to blind buy!

Cocoa-centric perfumes?
by DarkMatter | Perfume Recommendations
...Triffid:The one that comes to mind (I've not tried it) is "Borneo 1834" by Serge Lutens. It apparently has an obvious, not sweet, cocoa note but the catch is that it's heavy on the patchouli. The reviews may help you decide if it's worth sampling.Oooh thanks for the suggestion! I shall definitely get hold of a sample, that sounds very interesting indeed. :D

Good-smelling cheapies are hard to find
by DarkMatter | Perfumes & Brands
...Of course, I forgot to mention Al-Rehab! Their attars are so cheap and last an amazingly long time. The ones I've tried have been long lasting with excellent sillage. My most recent purchase is "Aseel" which is amazingly similar to "Red Aoud" by Montale, and it was only £2.75 including postage (approx €3.34 or US$4.62) for a 6ml roll on concentrated perfume oil which will last me forever!
