How did you hear about Parfumo?
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Community
...It was back when I was still active on the perfume site that must not be named and I was looking for the notes of a certain perfume that wasn't in their database. So I went searching on the internet and I found Parfumo. I was planning a city trip to Brussels at the time and I was looking up the perfumes that were sold at a very niche perfumery that I wanted to visit. Then I found another perfume that I wanted to know more about. Didn't find anything on Fragrantica, but I did find it here. And then it happened again, and again, and again. I quickly figured out that Parfumo has a better database, so I joined and I became increasingly more active, until I left the other perfume site altogether and now I'm exclusively here. I also love how easy it is to have perfumes added to the database here. On Fragrantica I had to beg and beg and just hope that one day the mods felt like adding one of the perfumes on my list. I love that I can add them here myself. Special shout out to the lovely members who helped me correct my mistakes when I proposed a perfume earlier today, you're the best! ❤️

What would [fictional character] wear? - game
by TommieBootje | Off Topic
...New game! Very simple. The person before you names a fictional character, you recommend that character a perfume, then you name another character yourself, someone else recommends that character a perfume, and so on and so forth. Only rule: NO REAL PEOPLE. Will tolerate people from history.Let me start off with:Ursula the Sea Witch from the Little Mermaid (1989)

Discontinued fragrances you wish you could bring back
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...I loved Ma Dame (Eau de Toilette)Ma Dame Eau de Toilette sooo much. It was the fragrance that back in the day made me feel like the badass I wanted to be. I looked for something that to me smells similar to the way I remember Ma Dame smelling. I settled for This is not a Blue Bottle 1.2 / Ceci n'est pas un Flacon Bleu 1.2This is not a Blue Bottle 1.2, which is a bit less out there, but gets close enough to my memory of Ma Dame.

Warning about Guerlain Bee Bottles
by TommieBootje | Perfumes & Brands
...Are those the bottles that are similar to the Aqua Allegoria bottles? I've bee having some issues with my Aqua Allegoria bottle. To be fair I've had it for two years now (I've used about a third), but the atomizer is wiggly, the gold paint from the cap is chipping off. There is also dark green fluid underneath the cap, all around the rims of the atomizer. I think it's just the chipped paint mixing with some perfume that leaked from the atomizer, it also just smells like perfume, it looks like moldy perfume. The perfume itself is still fine though, it's just that I have to wipe the atomizer before every use.

...I have so many perfume ideas! One of them, inspired by a girls' night in, reduced to five notes:Top: cucumber, teaMiddle: cottonBase: popcorn, clayAnd another one, titled "One Hundred Billion", inspired by billionairs with blood on their hands, reduced to five notes:Top: champagne, soapMiddle: metalBase: cigar, smokeI'm having loads of fun with this, so if anyone has suggestions for concepts to base five ingredient perfumes on, just let me know!

Motivation: Mood, Season, Weather or...?
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...For me it's a combination of the weather, the occasion and my mood. I do sort of rotate my collection, but it's more that I have perfumes for all seasons, perfumes for warmer seasons and perfumes for colder seasons. During warmer seasons, I put the perfumes for the colder seasons away and vice versa. I do this so I can see all of the perfumes that I would consider wearing this time of year in one glance, without the perfumes that I wouldn't wear at the moment blocking my view. I find that this is also a nice ritual where I get to say bye to the old season and welcome the new season. Leading up to this I tend to wear the perfumes that belong to the old season more, just so we can spend some quality time together before we're "apart" for about six months (but not really apart, they're just hibernating in a different drawer in the same closet).

Is there a fragrance that helps you when you feel unwell?
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...Depends on what I'm suffering from. A number of months ago I was feeling a bit feverish and I remember that Aqua Allegoria Orange SoleiaAqua Allegoria Orange Soleia provided some relief. When I'm sad, I get a lot of comfort from La Fin du MondeLa Fin du Monde. On days when it's simply too hot, Opus 1 - Rose Coup de FoudreOpus 1 - Rose Coup de Foudre gives me a cooler feeling, thanks to the icy notes in the middle. On the other hand, I also have two fragrances that I noticed can somehow predict when I'm going to have my period. MatchMatch smells better on me in the days leading up to and during my period. Musk DeerMusk Deer on the other hand always smells good on me, EXCEPT for on the days leading up to my period, because then it somehow smells fecal.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Community
...ModernistaLempiOh gosh, I don't get it... Why they want to make everything a political statement now? Seems like fragrances are not the priority anymore, it's the owners' political agenda... Sigh 🙄 It only gets worse and worse. I would have tolerated it if all the discussion about it would be moderated properly and only respectful factual conversation without namecalling, conspiracy theories etc. would be allowed but no, they just remove all those comments they disagree with and leave all hate speech comments. That's their version of "free speech", it's just pathetic. But well, it's their site, they are "free to choose". And I'm also free to choose Parfumo.Agree, completely.  It's also rather worrying that they don't know the definition of hate speech, but have interpreted it as 'speech you hate', i.e. that those who disagree with them hate that that they speak!  The literal ignorance is rather astounding.  Or maybe they just don't care about the actual definition of hate speech and prefer to make up their own. At least, that's how I interpret it.

My current faves, could you recommend me others?
by TommieBootje | Perfume Recommendations
...RojabirdThank you, @TommieBootje I am really in sync with your recommendations!I have actually been curious of your oriental suggestions, as I have looked up Tauer’s perfumes and have wanted to try them out! As well as Camel. 😁 Zoologist seems like such a fun and playful perfume house.ETA: I forgot to mention Under my Skin! It seems really cool, I’ll add it to my list of decants I have to buy. Great to hear! I'm curious to hear what you think of them. Zoologist is one of my favorite houses. Their fragrances aren't all crowd pleasers, but even if I don't like them I can appreciate their artistic value. Francesca Bianchi's perfumes are all pretty daring, it's like she adds a big dose of sexiness to all of her work. I own a bottle of what I consider to be the most demure fragrance I ever tried from her and even that one I only wear when I want to smell really, really seductive.

My current faves, could you recommend me others?
by TommieBootje | Perfume Recommendations
...Based on your favorites, the first perfume I thought of was Angels' ShareAngels' Share. It's spicy and sweet and it has the mysterious, dark and sexy vibe you're talking about, although it might be a little bit too gourmand for your liking. Now if you want something more daring, a good option would be Under My SkinUnder My Skin. It's very spicy, a bit oldschool, and in my opinion not the type of scent you'd wear to work if you know what I mean. Edit: another one that just popped into my mind is CamelCamel. It's spicy, it's smokey, it's ambery. It also has dried fruit, I don't know if you like that.Edit 2: I have to admit that I'm not overly familiar with this brand, but based on what I know about it I think you might enjoy the work of Andy Tauer. Tauer Perfumes is very good at making spicy perfumes.

Proposing new brand
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Research
...MitchcraftTelekinecThis could be because it's on this list: https://www.parfumo.com/fdb_he...Wow that is some size of list. I would love to know why they are on there. As far as I know many of them are dupe houses and that's why they don't want their perfumes here.

What is your suggested fragrance by the Parfumo Assistant ?
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...For me it's now a summer afternoon on a weekend. I'm wearing something completely different now though, Rima XIRima XI to be exact.I use some of the suggested perfumes on very specific occasions. Pour Un Homme de Caron (1934) (Eau de Toilette)Pour Un Homme de Caron (1934) Eau de Toilette is a nighttime perfume to me, Opus 1 - Rose Coup de FoudreOpus 1 - Rose Coup de Foudre is one I wear mostly in very hot weather because it's so refreshing, and Bat (2020)Bat (2020) is for when I go hermit mode. I have a complicated relationship with Pas Ce Soir (Eau de Parfum)Pas Ce Soir Eau de Parfum, I loved it when I first bought it after using up two whole samples, but the love faded very quickly once I owned a full bottle. It also doesn't help that when I wear 203 Framboise Vanille Mûre203 Framboise Vanille Mûre with my favourite ginger body lotion it smells practically identical for a fraction of the price.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Community
...DiffusekrisHello everyone! Im a 27 year old fragrance collector from Norway. I sometimes host perfume parties for my friends, which give me an excuse to obsessedly talk about fragrances. My goal with my collection is to have a fragrance for every occasion and every emotion, I like a bit of everything :) Welcome Diffusekris! Perfume parties sound so much fun, sadly my closest friends aren't into perfumes, so I'd have to look for new ones to hold these sorts of parties with. I built my collection the same way, making sure I have something for every occasion and every emotion. Your collection is very nice by the way, there are some perfumes in there that I haven't gotten my nose on yet.

Discontinued fragrances you didn't purchase
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...I remember vividly wanting to buy John Galliano by John Galliano when I was around 17. It was too expensive for me at the time. I'm kind of glad that I never spent money on that, even though I remember it smelling DIVINE.

What are your favourite Cheapie fragrances
by TommieBootje | Perfume Discussions
...My question is: what counts as cheap? From the top of my head my cheapest perfumes are the ones I own from Lovesick Witchery (I actually own four of them, but two of them are bespoke and another one isn't in the database and I was too lazy to add it), my Alkemia perfume, the one I own from Bon Parfumeur, my perfume from L'Atelier Parfum and my Versatile perfumes. If I remember correctly they were all under €60. I like them all for different reasons.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Community
...HeartreleaseHello everyone! I have also decided to ditch Fragrantica and join this community, for pretty much the same reasons as described above. I have never really read the blog posts but in the recent years it has become more and more apparent that they are showcasing their political agenda at every opportunity, and that just doesn’t sit well with me. The last straw was the Stetson cologne post by Elena, which was a clear rage bait (I have missed the Pride post but reading comments here about it made me sad).Anyways, I am in the process of transferring my whole collection here and once I am done, I will delete my old profile there.Welcome Heartrelease! What was the Stetson cologne post about? I don't want to give them any more clicks.

What Notes Are You Tired of Seeing in Perfumes?
by TommieBootje | Perfumes & Brands
...Honey. It doesn't work with my skin chemistry. I'm also not that fond of amber-heavy perfumes, because at this point I'm just bored of them. Same goes for gourmands.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by TommieBootje | Parfumo Community
...Hi everyone! My account is over a year old, but I haven't said hi on this forum before. So: hi! My username translates to "Tommie Little Boat" in my native language, but to be fair my name isn't Tommie, nor am I a boat. I might need a boat one day though, since I live just slightly above sea level (for now) in the Netherlands. I'm in my thirties, I used to be active on Fragrantica but I don't like their red-pilled politics and sketchy database and I like smelling good. I'm also terrible at introducing myself, so I guess this will have to do for now.
