Do you spray different perfumes on different bodyparts?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...OstaraRingtaleI don't wear it often, but I do the 'one spray walk through method' with my Aromatics Elixir (Perfume)Aromatics Elixir Perfume It is soooo strong! I had the bodylotion in the past and actually found that nicer than the perfume. I always spray my vintage Aromatics Elixir on the back of my knees because it's so strong. @Ostara , I just tried this (spraying AE only on the back of my knees) and it's a great way to use this scent! Thank you! Now I'm able to wear it!!!

What are some of the best ways to make perfume last longer?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...LempiJohnjssmithI agree with that's been said before: carry a travel sized atomizer with you and reapply! But before reapplying please ask someone if they can still smell your perfume or is it really gone. Because I'm quite sure that in most cases it's just olfactory fatigue, you can't smell your fragrance yourself anymore but everybody else can and reapplying will turn you into a fragrance bomb, heheh 😅I so agree on that :-) !!!

Sample’s smelling different from full bottles.
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...Hi @Mitchcraft My boyfriend suggested that the fact that a perfume is being transfered into an other bottle, will mean it will get in contact with air (and I think that, when this is done in - for instance - a perfumery, also with other scents floating around in the shop maybe) and that this may affect the fragrance...Whatever the case...it's better than the other way around: Would be worse if a fragrance in a full size bottle would disappoint in comparison to the sample :-) But I also find it alarming; I always feel as though sampling is the best way to be able to judge a fragrance... :-(  And how about people that use travel size bottles to be able to re-apply- or take with them their perfume on a vacation etc....? Do they experience bad performance of their perfumes or have different experiences with different sizes/materials of those bottles? You'd actually expect that if all this matters...

What are YOUR favourite patchoulis?
..."Patchouli | Réminiscence" is a lovely, Patchouli based fragrance of which some say that it is a good Patch 'for reference', but I'm not sure if I agree on that. Maybe "Patchouli Blanc | Réminiscence" comes more close to 'natural patchouli'. Both are very budget friendly nowadays. When I was a child, Patchouli was very much in fashion (think hippies, 'make love not war' and all that - Oh those were the days :-)!) and that Patchouli smelled different than many Patchouli based perfumes of today. The more earthy, dark and gothic vibes in Patchouli based perfumes often come from other notes with which it is blended. For reference, to find out what Patchouli as a note smells like, you may try a Patchouli-oil from shops that sell the 'more natural' oils maybe. "Patchouli | Réminiscence" is certainly unisex, earthy, a bit dark and gothic, but is also more 'perfume-y' and even more vintage than the sixties and seventies to my nose (and thus I like it more than just 'plain' Patchouli). Hope this helps :-)

What are some of the best ways to make perfume last longer?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...RiverMaking sure your skin isn't too dry helps. I'm not a fan of putting on lotion and then perfume immediately after, I've found that to have the opposite effect on longevity, but, staying moisturized does help a little. Other than that, there's nothing you can do about it. Some molecules just do not stay on your skin for long. Most top notes are this way, they last for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, and that is why they are top notes -- they evaporate quickly, which means you smell them immediately. I think these very ephemeral fragrances get made because they want to make something that can be smelled easily in a store. Lots of quickly evaporating chemicals that hit your nose immediately, cutting through the smells of everything else around you. While there are some chemicals that can reduce the rate of evaporation(fixatives), they also flatten the top notes by doing so. If you're interested in experimenting with this, you could try this product from Alkemia, but, I do not own it, so I can not vouch for it's effectiveness. You could also try layering with benzoin or patchouli, both said to be fixatives. While I haven't experimented with them on their own, I've definitely noticed that fragrances which include either(or both) do seem to last a long time. Good morning! I noticed that too (patchouli as a note to be a fixative), but the downside of that (on my skin and with my chemistry that is), is that the patchouli always performs as a very prominent note and seems to tame down the other notes. All I am left with in the end in those cases is......patchouli...I wore a scent the other day ( Eau de Rochas (1970) (Eau de Toilette)Eau de Rochas (1970) Eau de Toilette containing patchouli and someone asked me: 'Are you wearing Patchouli?' :-)

What are some of the best ways to make perfume last longer?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...TommieBootjeSomething I do is not spray fragrance on my wrists, but rather on the back of my arm. The back of my arm doesn't touch things that often and since the fragrance gets stuck in my arm hair it lasts longer. It's not that big of a deal when arm hair gets ruined by the alcohol in perfumes, unlike when it's ruins the hair on your head.Hi TommieBootje, I also never spray on my wrists, I think it's no use when washing your hands quite frequently during the day (and I just can't wash my hands without washing my wrists  :-)).  I rather spray on inner elbow and forearms.

Sample’s smelling different from full bottles.
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...I really don't know, haven't sampled enough perfumes that I actually bought to be able to compare them to a full size bottle. But I can somehow imagine that a 2 ml size bottle does something to the chemistry of a perfume. I often read about people, saying they don't like the first sprays of their, new purchased, perfume, but love it after first few sprays. Maybe that is even more of an issue with these 2ml size bottles? Maybe a scent 'as a whole' can't develope like it should in such a tiny bottle? And how about the material of those sample bottles, compared to the material of a full size bottle?I'm not a chemist, so just guessing....

...Oh some interesting replies here! Thanks! I'm a bit jalous of those who layer, I feel so incompetent when it comes to that :-(  But I like the idea of Mitchcraft: spraying both fragrances on different parts of the body.... And how about the 'one spray and walk through'- method? Anyone?

Do you spray different perfumes on different bodyparts?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...There are perfumes I like to spray lower on the body because I feel the perfume needs to rise, like Samsara (Eau de Parfum)Samsara Eau de Parfum . But I love my Private Collection (Eau de Parfum)Private Collection Eau de Parfum (It's actually called 'Eau de Private Collection' after reformulation) best when I spray it higher, like behind my ears and on my neck.Do you choose different places to spray your perfume, depending on what perfume you are wearing?

What are your best performing fragrances?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Private Collection (Eau de Parfum)Private Collection Eau de Parfum lasts forever with grate sillage and smells so good! Never had anything like it! It actually is called 'Eau de Private Collection', the one that is now available, (frosted bottle with gold coloured cap) so reformulated, but it still is wonderful.Oh...but today (15/9) I'm wearing Samsara (Eau de Parfum)Samsara Eau de Parfum. I bought it recently and had not yet been wearing it a full (working)day and this lasts on me for ages and sillage is lovely!!! It had to 'grow on me' actually because it's a bit different than what I usually wore, but now I love it!!! Gorgeous!

Do you ever take a break to help your senses?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Wearing a totally different scent than the scent I seem to get 'noseblind' to, also helps me to smell that scent again. On the other hand...Lately I'm sampling more scents that are actually 'out of my comfortzone' to discover if there's something unknown to me that I might like...and it really does something to my preferences, not always for the better when it comes to the perfumes I'm used to, always liked and have full bottles of... and, at the same time, fragrances that I was a little on the fence with, suddenly seem nicer....Very strange...So I think changing scents (or not wearing any) for some period of time, indeed does something to your olfactory senses...

If you had to get rid of a fragrance which would it be?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...Amarige (Eau de Toilette)Amarige Eau de Toilette This is something I've tried to love, many times spraying it, thinking: I bought it, so now I must love it for heaven's sake! And then I feel awful wearing the scent. Don't know about clones, but whatever comes even close to this scent, I detest! Sorry to those who love it...it's just me...🙃...

Which bodyproducts smell gorgeous to you?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Thanks for all the great suggestions already ðŸ˜€! A lot of them are unknown to me, so a lot to discover here!Does anyone know Marbert Classic bodylotion? It's lovely if you like a 'fresh out of the shower'- scent which is not boring and it performs almost like perfume! (In fact there is an EDT that should match the lotion, It's nice, but I don't think it really matches the lotion completely, I like the lotion better. The deo is nice too and smells more like the lotion.

Worst skin chemistry reactions you've had with fragrances
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...I am rather late for the party, but I get an awful rash on my upper chest from Eau de LancasterEau de Lancaster ! It's the only fragrance I have this issue with (and I tested it multiple times to see if it really was caused by it)...very strange because it is not a really strong fragrance (and a rather nice, unisex freshy, so it's too bad... :-(...).Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't understand the question as intended :-) So it's about the scent, smelling lovely on a paper strip or on others, but not on me....Well, I had/have that experience with many Chypres, they often perform musty or souer on my skin...Unfortunately because I love a good chypre! Chypres just don't like me....(with Miss Dior Originale and Mitsouko as the only exceptions)....

Which bodyproducts smell gorgeous to you?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Sometimes you may stumble upon a lotion, face cream, deo, shampoo, soap...(you name it, it can be anything) you'd wish there would be a perfume that smells just like that. I, for instance, had Revlon Flex shampoo in the past...oh how I loved that smell! Can you name one (or more) beautyproducts that gave you that feeling? And did you find a perfume that came close?
