One of my best blind buys has to be Floranilla surprised me with its smooth sweet-floral vibe
while Odyssey Mandarin Sky Vintage Edition surprised me with its fresh, slightly sweet citrus vibe both turned out to be total hits for me.

Best blind buys for me were Cool Water Eau de Toilette and Club de Nuit Milestone Eau de Parfum both super easy to wear and instantly likable. Also got lucky with Cuir de Venise and La Tsarine didn’t expect much but they turned out classy and unique

One of my best blind buys has to be Peach Macaron such a cozy sweet peach gourmand that instantly puts me in a good mood. Club de Nuit Sillage Eau de Parfum was another surprise hit for me, super fresh, metallic-citrusy and classy with amazing performance. And Fresia turned out way prettier than I expected, soft floral and clean, perfect for everyday wear.

A lot of my collection started off as blind buys, I've since stopped doing so, or at the very least do a bit of research beforehand. Thankfully I've had great success with blind buys so far but then again I mostly went for fragrances that are popular.

Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum was my first truly blind buy and it was incredible, still one of my most worn cold weather fragrances and I still wear it in spring/summer from time to time.

Encre Noire Eau de Toilette started off as a dissappointment as I came to the realization I had Iso E Super anosmia. However with time that went away and I've come to really enjoy this, so much so I got the Extreme version as well.

Vetiver Eau de Toilette was a more recent purchase, after getting addicted to Original Vetiver and realizing I might have a thing for vetiver I figured I might enjoy this one as well, and the feedback on it was overwhelmingly positive. It didn't click immediately but I've come to enjoy it quite a lot since.

Paradigme Eau de Parfum was recommended by a friend and I really liked it. I don't know why it gets so much flak from the community.

Myslf Eau de Parfum I enjoy quite a lot, but the girl I was seeing at the time absolutely hated it so I didn't get to wear it much.

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum and Parfum are certified classics and I can see why.

Dior Homme Sport (2021) was a strange experience, it's one of the very few fragrances that smell VERY different when I smell the cap and on skin, and it had me doubting my choice at first. Once I sprayed it on skin however I fell in love.

I am blind buying a lot. My favourites are at the time are (there are two, I had no much experience with yet):

Bengale Rouge

Encre Noire Eau de Toilette

The Dark Side Extrait de Parfum not, what I thought, yet nevertheless one of favourites.

1969 A MASTERPIECE! Soooo elegant!

1740 really nice!!

Laudano Nero

Exit the King

PerfumedPers

Definitely Vanille Havane Eau de Parfum.

Wow, this is an expensive blind buy.

Champs-Élysées Eau de Toilette but I like other Guerlain scents from Les Légendaires collection and I love lilac so the chances of me not liking it were pretty low 😀

0

Malibù - Party in the Bay

Matcha Meditation

Pomélo Paradis

I would say they are pretty safe blind buys. They deliver exactly what their description says.

Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum another Guerlain blind buy and another banger. I'm going through a bit of a cold right now so my nose isn't functioning but I'm getting cherry from it which nobody mentions, so I'll chalk it up to the cold. I'm starting to see why this house has so many fans and I'm looking forward to checking out more in fall/winter.

Costa Azzurra Eau de Parfum not sure if this can count as a blind buy as I got the smallest 10ml size. At first I didn't really like it, but once I sprayed it on skin I went a 180 on it. Might even get a 50ml when I run out. Only downside is it doesn't seem to last that long on me.

Oud Minérale another 10ml I got, is an odd one in that I can't figure out if I like it or it's just "alright". Some days it wears like really expensive sun lotion (in a good way) the others it smells almost rubbery in a way. It's not really strong in projection/sillage but it seems to last days on me. Even after multiple showers I can still catch it easily on my wrists.

For Her Musc Noir Rose is definitely my most successful blind buy. I don't blind buy often, but will on rare occasions. I like most NR fragrances, so I took a chance on Musc Rose Noir a couple years ago. It's one of my favorite anytime/anywhere scents now.

I stopped doing blind buys but saw L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Noir Ambré in stock a while back and liked the notes so I bought it , it is amazing love this scent

L Floral Chypre by Christian Clive was not at all what I expected but turned out to be my favorite patchouli I've ever tried.
KL Femme by Karl Lagerfeld was everything I hoped for in a spicy vintage amber, absolutely gorgeous.
Lattafa Dynasty is a shockingly good freshie with tea notes for the price, was very happy with my blind buy.
French Avenue Marmara was also surprisingly enjoyable, but it was a pretty safe bet seeing how I enjoy all the fragrances it takes inspiration from.

My best blind buy was Grand Soir Eau de Parfum circa fall 2019. I had À la Rose Eau de Parfum already and Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum , but I wanted something bold that would be a staple in my closet. I remember first opening the box and trying the fragrance. It showed me the deeper end of unisex fragrances, allowing me to see that I could find notes of femininity and sweetness in any bottle, as long as I attuned my palate to do so. I've bought several more bottles since my initial discovery but that first experience created a new level of consciousness in me and broadened my taste. Love this question!

That’s funny, I opened this topic quite some time ago and I realize that the successful blind buy I spoke of is no longer in my collection. I replaced it with other freshies.

If I look at my collection right now, it’s quite full of successful blind-buys. I start to get a hang of it probably. My most beloved ones are Moustache Eau de Parfum and Drakkar Noir Eau de Toilette . I bought the tinier bottles in case I wouldn’t like them but they’re so so good now I wish I had the bigger bottles!

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum is often considered one of the safest blind buys because it is fresh, sophisticated, and works well year-round for nearly any setting.

The question was: what’s your best blind buy?

I am always confused with if I should buy it without ordering sample kit Very Happy especially when I need just one from the brand or when sample kits are too expensive for me. I took risk once for Interlude Black Iris and it paid off beautifully! I got full tester bottle in a great deal and I simply enjoy the fragrance. This would be my top blind buy followed by Starlight

Oh, I absolutely love blind buying fragrances, like my hobby within a hobby 😇 So most successful blind buy was Hermes Kelly Caleche extrait. I know the EDT and EDP quite well, but for me extrait is completely different, and I really happy with how it turned out. The most beautiful narcissus with suede.

When I first started taking a more serious interest in fragrances and collecting, I made some costly blind buying mistakes. Thankfully I quickly discovered that I could purchase decants to sample. I only rarely blind buy now.

There is, however, something quite exciting about experiencing a blind buy for the first time. Have I wasted my money? Have I made a mistake? Can I fool myself into liking this? If I wear it for a month will it grow on me?

Of the blind buys in my current collection, these are the ones that I was most pleased with ...

Fico di Amalfi

Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum

Pour Monsieur Eau de Parfum

Paris - Édimbourg

Astor Cologne

Going back to when I first started buying fragrances, in the 1980s, they were nearly all a blind buy back then. And apart from one, they were all successful.

These are pretty nice! Would you buy them again in hindsight? Even if you’d know how they smelled?

Yes, if I ever finish those bottles, I'd repurchase all of them. I like to wear fragrances according to the weather, the setting, and to my mood. All of the above play a role in my collection. Ideally, I aim to have several options for each role, as that then gives me more scope to choose something that fits my mood on any given day.

I am a sucker for lavender so I pretty much will blind buy the lavender-centric perfumes. I blind-bought Le Passant , no regrets, beautiful on skin.

Lavande & Vétiver as a table gift for my father in law

Divain 403 & 376; dupes of AdG parfum and Imagination.

Agua de Colonia Concentrada

note: these are all low prices. I´ld never blind buy mid to high budget.
