If you had to choose: New clothes/shoes or new perfumes?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...XyzXyzGood question … if I may: If you really don ´ t know for sure which or what exactly, and if you really have to answer t h i s question, it can not be that important, and you should rather use the extra money for a donation of some kind :) Hi, XyzXyz,Yes, you are right: It actually is a question people on lower budgets won't ask themselves. Being able to choose between these two is already a matter of luxury (though I'm far from rich or anything :-)) And so I also feel a bit 'decadent' on the matter:-) and sometimes even a little quilty when I buy a perfume.Ofcourse it is not that important, but I was curious if people find perfumes more important since joining a site like this. I noticed it triggers my longing to smell good and to find out about perfumes, more than before, when I didn't join this site :-) and so I changed my priorities. Ofcourse I'm the only one responsible for that, but again: just curious how this works for others. Oh and by the way: I do donations too :-)

If you had to choose: New clothes/shoes or new perfumes?
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Since joining Parfumo, I rather spend my money on perfumes than on new clothes or shoes. Haven't spend money on new clothes or shoes for months because I rather had a new perfume. How about you?

Perfume as a medicine
by Ringtale | Perfumes & Brands
...Hi Static,I'm so with you on this! I'm in the same state of mind. I think in German they call it 'Weltschmerz' and we do live in a worrysome time, it hurts me too and frightens me!My nose is also tired and I think  - like with addiction on social media -  also with perfumes it's called "The Fear Of Missing Out' (FOMO): What if there's a perfume out there that does it all for me? And in the mean time you know that this one perfume you've always loved may be just right :-). I've been spending more money on perfumes and samples than on clothes lately because of that 'fear of missing out' and because it distracts a little from all the misery in the world. There's nothing wrong with that as long as we perceive it as a hobby, but it is sad if we end up feeling bored, unsatisfied and even 'blasé'.Sometimes I also feel a bit guilty spending money on perfumes when others suffer lack of food and money and when I make a fuzz about perfumes where others have to worry if they will be safe.I thank you for your open and honest reflections which able me to reflect on myself and I will be wearing my first love (in my case also a 'L'Air'....but 'L'Air Du Temps') knowing it's okay to love just one perfume and just to be with you on this:-)Thanks for sharing and hold on 🙏❤️'

What if your spouse doesn't care for perfumes??
by Ringtale | Parfumo Community
...LidijabernHehe, your post made me laugh. It's perfectly ok not to share ALL of your passions and interests with your partner. Mine is a bit different, but also similar. :-D He likes going through samples (lots and lots of them) I bring home, but once the testing is over he is like: I'll keep this one and this one and this one to myself. And then: he takes one of them, sprays it every single day until empty, then moves to another and so on. :-D No changing whatsoever, regarding weather outside, his mood, clothes... Like a terminator - he's over one until finished and then goes to another. XD But, on the other hand, when he chooses, he sticks to it - that means it full bottle worthy to him so we order a full bottle and he's happy again. :-DSo, I think it's great we're different and we should enjoy and respect that. :-DHaha, thanks for your reply!! Sounds like mine (apart from the sampeling :-)). Ofcourse it is alright to have different interests and hobbys which is why I mentioned it as 'a minor problem', but I was so curious how others experience this :-)Thanks! Have nice day!

Citrus/fresh nivhe perfume for summer
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...I've heard some good things about Essence of the Park (Eau de Parfum)Essence of the Park Eau de Parfum I haven't smelled it myself yet, but it sounds really unique and lovely. The only thing that is holding me back from trying/buying is the longivity and sillage, I read different opinions about that. But I love the name, notes and appearance of the bottle and find that very intriguing.;-)

...Good Evening SOTD: Today I've been wearing Fidji (2003) (Eau de Toilette)Fidji (2003) Eau de Toilette Love the fresh feel of it without it being 'just a freshy'. I always feel a bit 'classy' wearing this, but not in that 'diva- or bossy kind of way'; it's very classy indeed, but it remains a kind scent.

Where do you buy fragrances?
by Ringtale | Perfume Discussions
...EvitaVillaI avoid Sephora or Nocibe ( French Douglas) as they are very often more expensive than the fragrance houses themselves. I buy at Le Printemps, or directly from the fragrance houses or at a local niche perfumerie called Le Soleil d'Or.Online, I shop at Incenza, Parfumdo, Notino, MyOrigines or Parfumdreams. I compare their price and I have never had a bad experience with these websites. My 2 last purchases were at Notino as they were the cheapest for what I wanted to order : Jardins de Bagatelle (Eau de Toilette)Jardins de Bagatelle Eau de Toilette , White Rose (Eau de Toilette)White Rose Eau de Toilette and Hermann à mes Côtés me Paraissait une OmbreHermann à mes Côtés me Paraissait une Ombre . Goodmorning, I avoid Douglas too and had good experiences with most of the online webshops such as Notino, Supersales (sometimes via Bol.com and they often give something extra like a bodylotion of the same perfume - ofcourse with a message, asking if you would be so kind to add a positive review :-)), Deloox etc. But I always check the packaging and batchcode, no matter what. Some time ago I had ordered Vetiver (Eau de Toilette)Vetiver Eau de Toilette through Bol.com (who work with other partners) for my brother's birthday and it came in a messy packaging with a big sticker right on where I should be able to see the batchcode, so I told them I didn't trust it and wanted to send it back. I immediately got a mail from the retrailer that I could be confident it was real and that the sticker was from Amazon (so also partners of partners of partners can be involved where it concerns online shopping :-)) and that I was allowed to take of the cellophane to see- and check the batchcode, box and bottle for myself and that, if I then still would not trust it, I could send it back despite removing the cellophane and would get my money back. It all appeared to be okay. When I've asked for a sample in a 'physical' store to test a perfume before buying, I will buy the perfume there out of decency :-)

Can you relate to the 'people who like this, also like' list
by Ringtale | Parfumo Community
...SmirkyIt all depends on the algorithm used to populate the list.  I had the opportunity to provide the first review for a perfume on Fragrantica. The "also like" list was empty. After I submitted my review, the 5 fragrances in my favorites top shelf appeared as "also likes" as well as 15 others from my collection. It's not clear how those 15 were selected since they don't seem to have anything in common.  I suspect the accuracy and usefulness of the "also like" list would get better as more people submit reviews. Hi Smirky,Yes, I also think it's about algorithms (seems to me the only way to create such a list) but I don't really know if it is about the amount of reviews on a perfume. Sometimes, when there are no reviews of a perfume here, I look for those on Fragantica ( with mixed feelings I must say, because it is a site I left as a member because I hate their political talks and don't like their attitude, but on which there are far more reviews) and also on that site, I can't relate to their 'who likes this, also like'-list..no matter the amount of reviews.

What if your spouse doesn't care for perfumes??
by Ringtale | Parfumo Community
...CocopahHi Ringtale,My SO couldn't care less about perfume. He is a water-and-neutral soap type of guy. After 25 years I´ve lost hope this will everchange. Obviously, I wear perfume daily and I still wear perfume at home because that´s what I love and makes ME happy. Regarding his feedback on perfumes I am considering buying/testing or wearing I follow the wise German saying "not complaining is a good enough compliment". Best wishes,CocopahHi Cocopah,Thanks for your reply! It's nice to know I'm not the only one and I guess that German saying is very wise :-) I will keep that in mind :-)!Thanks again and have a nice evening!Ringtale.

What if your spouse doesn't care for perfumes??
by Ringtale | Parfumo Community
...I'm wondering if anyone here does recognize this: I love, love, love, perfumes! But whenever I ask my (by the way lovely and caring) boyfriend what he thinks about a scent, most of the times he just doesn't care :-( !It's not that important ofcourse, but just a bit frustrating sometimes when you want an opinion or just want to share the fun of exploring scents....Because, in my case, I think the poor guy just gets a bit weary from me, bothering him by asking his opinion about fragrances all the time.I'm glad I can share my interest in perfumes here ofcourse, but I'm just curious if more people here do have the same (minor) 'problem' and how they deal with it: Do you just stop bothering your better half with questions about scents if he/she just doesn't care? Or do you keep hoping that - maybe - one day.....:-)...?
