Hard candies stashed in a colorful toy teapot
Soft sillage and a subdued sweet scent – like an aftertaste of lime and apple hard candies on someone's breath. Each and every note somehow smells like a candied version of itself, but it never comes across as overwhelming or desperate. As if Nina is blissfully unaware of expectations for what a fruity perfume is supposed to be like – so it's just having fun and playing pretend with plastic fruits and a colorful toy teaset. A joyful little thing, cute and innocent.

It's lovely, even if it's something I wouldn't want to wear myself. Well, maybe back when I was 12. I'd adore this when I was 12. Nowadays it leaves me smiling, yet uninterested.

Now that I think about it, I was barely a few years older than that when I got Ricci Ricci. (And that has been a very long while ago, and my memory is kinda fuzzy, so take this with a grain of salt, buuut)... About ~1 hour in candies start fading and the composition becomes floral-forward. And I know Nina Ricci's own website says that the floral note is gardenia, but it smells to me more like whatever it was that I loved about my tiny bottle of Ricci Ricci all those years ago. Datura? But it's more tender here. An almost fruity fantasy smell – soft and delicious.

In another hour that too fizzles away and leaves me alone with a soft candied musk. Lovely, simple. I note it down and look away for a second, and before I know it – everything's over. And I'm already starting to miss the idea of it. But not the experience.

Candy apple
Nina is in one word; sweet. So sweet that had it been candy, it would have given me a tooth-ache.

Generally I love sugary sweet fragrances, but in this case I couldn't help feeling like a giggly, fourteen year old teenage girl when I wore this scent, which was not how I wanted to feel.

This fragrance reminds me of toffee apples, fairy floss and candy shops. Only this fragrance and Showtime by Kylie Minogue makes me feel this way.

Nina opens with a sweet but tarty lemon note, almost like lemon-flavoured candies rather than the sour, citrusy burst most of us are used to. For once peony isn't the dominant note letting the apple and praline practically star in their own show.

I'm not sure where the sweetness in the drydown comes from because all I can smell is sugar, sugar and more sugar. Not a hint of musk, apple tree or cedar.

Upon further sniffing I can detect a slight vanilla note hidden in the base notes which does give this scent a softer and more feminine finish.

Overall, sweet scents, (which did appeal to me a few years ago), are not likely to excite me anymore as I begin to look more towards becoming a woman and finding fragrances to suit a young woman rather than a girl. In my personal opinion, Nina is a teenage fragrance, I just can't picture a woman actually pulling this one off.

Smells like condiments
A friend gave me a sample spray of this, and I was so excited to try it! I think the bottle is adorable, and I enjoy Nina Ricci scents.

Sadly, the experience was underwhelming. The apple flacon should really be green, because that initial spray is sour like a Granny Smith apple! I rather enjoy that part, but it quickly devolves into a mess on my skin. Honestly, the only way to describe how it smells on me is "mustard and ketchup mixed." Even my husband concurred. It's weird.

I had much better luck with Luna. It's delish!

Young and fresh
It was my first signature one for a really long time (from high school to 10 years of business life).
I still love it; it's not a unique scent, but I can't say it's generic either. Somehow I never managed to smell the apple. It's balanced citrus and berry/rose mixture for me, so young! But I'm struggling to find it at my location. Also, my nose started to look for more feminine and stronger scents with time. I guess I'm getting older :D

sweet candy
it smells like candy.
Imagine you are a 10 year old girl. You dance in the living room to Hannah Montana wearing your older sisters makeup without telling and eat Jolly Ranchers till you have a tummy ache. Your breathe will smell like this.

I agree w/Missk & Jubliant. It's soooooooo sweet! A shame, because it's well-composed and balanced. Too bad it makes my teeth hurt.
