Hard candies stashed in a colorful toy teapot
Soft sillage and a subdued sweet scent – like an aftertaste of lime and apple hard candies on someone's breath. Each and every note somehow smells like a candied version of itself, but it never comes across as overwhelming or desperate. As if Nina is blissfully unaware of expectations for what a fruity perfume is supposed to be like – so it's just having fun and playing pretend with plastic fruits and a colorful toy teaset. A joyful little thing, cute and innocent.
It's lovely, even if it's something I wouldn't want to wear myself. Well, maybe back when I was 12. I'd adore this when I was 12. Nowadays it leaves me smiling, yet uninterested.
Now that I think about it, I was barely a few years older than that when I got Ricci Ricci. (And that has been a very long while ago, and my memory is kinda fuzzy, so take this with a grain of salt, buuut)... About ~1 hour in candies start fading and the composition becomes floral-forward. And I know Nina Ricci's own website says that the floral note is gardenia, but it smells to me more like whatever it was that I loved about my tiny bottle of Ricci Ricci all those years ago. Datura? But it's more tender here. An almost fruity fantasy smell – soft and delicious.
In another hour that too fizzles away and leaves me alone with a soft candied musk. Lovely, simple. I note it down and look away for a second, and before I know it – everything's over. And I'm already starting to miss the idea of it. But not the experience.
