Obvious is one of those brands that -fairly recently- got kickstarted through crowdfunding. Quite adventurous, I like that! Another plus about those newer brands is that they still have a mission, something to believe in. Obvious' credo is simplicity, harmony and being good for you and the planet. At least that is what their website says. I tried their
Un Bois the other day and that simplicity part, yeah, I get that. Today, the same goes for Un Musc. It is a pretty straightforward fresh musk scent, but still it managed to surprise me in the end.
Un Musc starts with a typical clean laundry scent. Fresh musks with some generic iris-ambrox sparkles and something green-woody on the side. Perfectly acceptable, but not exactly a mesmerizing first impression. But then, the scent progresses and the laundry impression fades, while the fresh-green side as well as the woody facets remain. Still not all that memorable, but I like the fact that there is a development to the experience. A fresh musk that improves over time, contrary to the usual quiet disappearing act. Interesting.
Apart from the green-woody drydown, the scent profile does not really stand out. It is minimalist, easy-going and inoffensive. That makes it perfectly fine for office settings as well as casual outdoor wear in spring or summer. I consider it nice enough to wear again. At least to finish my 5ml.
