E.Coudray was founded in Paris during the reign of Louis XVIII, and due to the high-quality standards, it quickly advanced in the following years among European royalty. Coudray wanted to preserve the decadence of the Rococo period and succeeded so well that he was even named royal purveyor to the court by the British royal family in 1837. An outsider eventually took over the family business with Edouard Colmant for the first time in 1908, almost 100 years after the brand's foundation date.
The two world wars took their toll on the label - but all of Edmond Coudray's original recipes were preserved throughout generations, allowing the brand to make a fresh start and regain its position among the top fragrance labels in the market.

The 100-year dream
Here we are again, a chance find and curiosity purchase, a probably hundred year old Coudray in the presumed Lalique flacon.

Absolute iris bomb
I have been thinking about buying this perfume for a long time. The descriptions sound wonderful. I love coconut and vanilla. Unfortunately, it smells like really old face powder. The iris is the star of the show here. The staying power is phenomenal....
