If you want to find out about "Détour Rouge | Al Haramain / الحرمين" on YouTube, you somehow get nowhere.
Sometimes you hear it's a "Eros Flame | Versace" dupe, sometimes it's said to clone
Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême or even be an alternative to "Mystery Tobacco | Carolina Herrera".
I didn't really get any clarity from the statement here either.
That's why I had to test it; my curiosity was just too great since I really liked "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين", I thought it was worth a try.
First of all, no, the scent neither clones "Eros Flame | Versace" nor any of the other mentioned fragrances.
Upon the first spray, I thought this is just Détour Noir in a different bottle (even though the bottles are identical, but you know what I mean).
The opening is almost identical to Détour Noir.
However, after a short time, you notice small differences; the Rouge is simply a bit fruitier.
But otherwise, it is quite similar to Détour Noir.
It seems as if they failed in cloning Layton with this scent and thought, hmm, it's still somehow cool, let's just call it Détour Rouge while we name the true Layton dupe Détour Noir.
And I can understand why it's referred to as a Versace Eros or Eros Flame dupe because this delicious vanilla tonka combo is similar here to Versace.
But as I said, for me, it's not a dupe; it's an independent fragrance that comes 90% close to Détour Noir.
The apple pie vibe has been toned down here and replaced with a delicious grapefruit.
Vanilla, powdery, sweet, slightly fruity, tonka or at least something reminiscent of tonka bean, the scent has it all.
Still, "Détour Noir | Al Haramain / الحرمين" has a slight edge for me.
This apple pie note that is simply more prominent in Noir makes the small, fine difference.
Performance? I tested both Détours side by side, Rouge on the left, Noir on the right.
The Rouge definitely performed better in the first two hours.
After that two-hour mark, both were on par and remained easily noticeable on clothing until the next day, until I had to change my top.
The sillage, I must say, is better than the projection.
This means that when you move, you leave a nice scent cloud even after 8-9 hours, which you often don't really perceive yourself anymore.
Who can wear the scent? As already mentioned, it's a unisex fragrance, but for some ladies, it might smell a bit too masculine.
When and where? This is a mass pleaser; you can wear it anywhere and at any time of the year.
At work, on a date. Maybe not during training since it's too powdery sweet, but otherwise, I don't see where you couldn't wear it.
My conclusion: if you already own Détour Noir, then this one doesn't need to be in your collection; they are simply too similar. But for the small price, you can still treat yourself to the Rouge.
Those who like sweet, powdery fragrances will find this one great.
I personally think it's just top-notch, so definitely a recommendation from my side.
