Sadly, not for me.
Oof... I REALLY wanted to like this. I was hoping it would be a fresh, easy wear for summer. However, there's something in here that simply doesn't agree with me. Perhaps the freesia or the pineapple? Maybe the cedar? It's kind of sharp, and I feel myself desiring more musk, vanilla, amber, and sandalwood to soften it and balance it out. I know all of these are supposed to be present in the base, but I'm just not getting them.
Overall, it's giving fragrance flap. You know, those perfume "samples" from designers like Gucci, Armani, and Dolce & Gabbana you'd find in your mom's magazines when you were a kid? You'd peel it open, give it a sniff, and grapple with the uncomfortable feelings stirred up by the curiously damp model, staring up at you from the glossy page with alien intensity. And then later, your dad would tear it out and put it in his car for use as an air freshener. This is a universal experience, yes? Anyway, it has that odd, perfume-y quality to it that so many designer fragrances suffer from. Given the inspiration for this scent, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.
Perhaps it would improve with maceration, but I fear it's just not my style. It's not unpleasant, per se, and I could see someone else really liking it. I've never smelled Aventus, For Her or otherwise, and it's possible that I wouldn't like those either. Back to the depths of internet retail it goes!
