In search of a coffee scent, I came across
French Coffee.
It took ages for the perfume to become available in Germany, but when I finally got it, I was more than hyped.
Unfortunately, I was immediately disappointed.
The opening is alcoholic and synthetic; I knew right away that this is a scent that will smell cheap.
The coffee note is immediately noticeable; it's a kind of milk coffee, pleasantly sweet with a hint of caramel.
As nice as that sounds, it is quite synthetic overall.
You can compare the scent to another Al Rehab, "Choco Musk (Eau de Parfum) | Al Rehab".
In terms of quality, both scents are identical.
The perfume is very linear; what you perceive in the opening mostly remains.
Although the alcoholic note disappears quite quickly and the perfume becomes a bit less synthetic in the dry down, anyone expecting a high-quality coffee scent (which I can't imagine at this low price) will be disappointed.
It's just not coffee from a fine cafeteria, but rather coffee from a vending machine for 1 euro in the supermarket; that's how I would describe it.
However, since the price is quite low, I don't want to be too harsh with my rating.
It's a nice coffee scent where the price/performance ratio definitely holds up.
Therefore, I rate it 7/10.
But I would still pay a bit more and get
Coffee Addict.
It smells much more high-quality and not so synthetic, plus it is also much more potent.
And now we come to the performance.
I find it average in terms of longevity.
The projection is also at best mediocre.
Perfect for cuddling with a partner, but to be noticed, you definitely need at least 10 sprays.
Overall, I would say
French Coffee is not a must-have if you already own a good coffee scent.
However, if you don't own one yet and think, I don't care if the perfume smells rather low-quality, as long as I smell like coffee, I can definitely recommend French Coffee.
