A 'must try' for oud lovers!
I find this to be an excellent oud fragrance, very long lasting. The woody sharpness of the oud is softened just slightly with the addition of vanilla, great for times when you want a lighter scent. It's good on it's own, and also lends itself well to layering with a variety of other perfumes and oils. I totally agree with the many reviewers who said that they find the quality of this fragrance to be FAR higher than it's price. I've been trying to convince people for years that expensive does not necessarily equal quality, mostly to no avail - but I've personally tried samples of quite a few high priced oud fragrances, and found Sultan Al Oud to be as good, and in some cases better, than all but one of them. I'm looking forward to trying more of these Arabian oils! EDIT: I'm wearing this today layered with violet leaf eo - it's a FANTASTIC combination!!

Dark and sweet.
I love this one so much. I usually wear sweet, woody, smoky, spicy fragrances. And sometimes when outdoor allergens are aggravating me, I have a hard time wearing the sprays. Then I use oils for a little while. This one projects well for me. Even though it's said it leans masculine, with my skin chemistry it smells like incense, candy, bonfire, and fall. It makes me think of Halloween, which I love. I'm a woman, and I get compliments with this one. But unless your a woman that likes dark and woody scents, it might not be for you.

Soft, creamy-green oud
A glance at Sultan Al Oud’s name might have you trembling in anticipation of a full-on oudy onslaught – but relax. This is a soft, inoffensive essay on woods that is incredibly easy to wear and won’t have anyone in your immediate vicinity wrinkling their noses. The perfume derives most of its force from a creamy vanilla in the base but gains auxiliary interest by way of the same soapy green cardamom note that features so strongly in Tom Ford’s Oud Wood. The texture of the oil resembles lather from a luxurious shaving soap, but other than this, there is nothing to sway it in the direction of one sex or the other. In fact, like Oud Wood, Sultan Al Oud is as smooth and as featureless as a Ken doll.

Later on, Sultan Al Oud smoothes out into a clean, rubbery woods accord that, when paired with the bland vanilla, recalls those great Lattafa cheapies Raghba and Ameer al Oudh, minus the chemical screech of their synthetic oud. Highly recommended as a gateway into the whole ‘oudy’ arena, because although it contains not even a drop of oud, Sultan Al Oud still manages to convey a convincingly oudy aroma. It is on the dapper side of wearability, so it won’t scare the horses

Intimate Thought Balm
Sultan al Oud is an interesting perfume oil that does not flaunt its true scent character like a flag but rather wraps around the neck and arms in a well-crafted composition of colorful ribbons, not constricting but supporting.

While it is primarily described as woody here, the scent is additionally described as spicy and floral in official English product descriptions (e.g., on Amazon's English site), and even vanilla is named as an ingredient. I believe there is significantly more truth in these product descriptions than in the local information.

Even though Oud and sandalwood may be present, the light yellow Sultan oil bows more to the imperial Oud rather than allowing it to truly reign in its full majesty. The initially flashing spicy wood notes retreat quickly into their private chambers of scent nirvana, and at least to my nose, heavy floral notes seem to dominate on a very light earthy base, which is at most surrounded by a hint of musk and light spice. I particularly think I can detect lavender. "Evening-oriental fougère," or "A lavender garden in Jerusalem," are terms that seem appropriate to me here. - After several hours, a powdery note joins in that may again carry a hint of wood, but even this primarily delegates its power to the gardener, so that in the end, the floral notes remain predominant for me. - By the way, I never perceive vanilla.

A deviation from the theme then? Perhaps yes. But by God, not a bad one!

Sultan al Oud is indeed best described as "interesting" in its applicability. While the components of the scent do not achieve the dignified weight of a majestic, Arabic Oud, they still blend into a completely rounded amalgam that embraces the skin like a wonderful floral balm, never shouting "Here!" in a penetrating way, but rather radiating calmness and a touch of dignity and concentrated self-worth.

The sillage of the perfume oil is rather mediocre, but the longevity is excellent. Even after many hours, the scent gently places its reassuring and supportive hand on your shoulder and whispers softly, "I am still here, my friend"; even if soon it is only close to the skin.

I do not see this perfume as tied to a specific gender. The floral notes do not come across as overly feminine, as they are still held down just heavy enough on - or rather in - solid ground by the other components of this creation. However, the scent is not too harsh for a woman of certain dignity and intellectual class.

For most leisure occasions, it seems a bit too heavy and sluggish to me. However, it would suit a wine tasting with old friends, a museum visit, a classical concert, or a good book quite well. In terms of work, I certainly would not recommend it to professions that require too much physical activity. For anything related to intellectual work, it is certainly well applicable. It would suit authors and professors very well. It would also fit a calmer artist or composer. With a bit of imagination, it could even work for someone in a higher position in an office, a librarian, or a highly liturgical pastor. - I personally enjoy wearing the scent when I go to the library to study.

Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend this oriental thought balm.
Especially considering that you can already buy it for a song: You get multiple times the value of what you paid.

ERROR 404: Oud Wood not found
After I had very good experiences with the perfume oil "Tom Oudh | Surrati / السرتي" from an Arab manufacturer, I ordered four perfume oil roll-ons from Al Rehab: Sultan Al Oud Perfume Oil, Bakhour Perfume Oil, Golden Perfume Oil, and Dakar Perfume Oil.

After the Dakar Perfume Oil was a hit, I was unfortunately disappointed by the Sultan Al Oud Perfume Oil. The scent smells to me - if at all - only very faintly like Oud Wood Eau de Parfum or Oud Wood Intense. The scent might not be bad on its own, but for someone like me who was looking for the Oud Wood Eau de Parfum DNA, it is unfortunately sobering. It's hard for me to define; I perceive spice & a certain sweetness, but the wood from the Oud Wood Eau de Parfum is missing.

For the price, it's definitely worth a try, but anyone looking for a perfume oil with the scent of Oud Wood Eau de Parfum is much better off with the "Tom Oudh | Surrati / السرتي". That remains my go-to for the Oud Wood Eau de Parfum alternative.

This scent somehow resembles to the OG version of Opium Pour Homme EDP. I assume amber&vanilla are responsible for the effect. Awesome!

Vanilla-Mahogany-Oud. Woody, bright, mystical. Incomprehensible for the price. 1:1 like the EdP.

I could sniff it all day, it’s that amazing. Bright oud, creamy vanilla, and powdery rose. A gentle ride through the desert.

EDP Spray: Similar to Ameer al Oudh, just less oud and more alcoholic in my opinion. Good - medium attributes.

I'm not an expert in Oud yet, but for me, this is a light and bright Oud on a base of light and bright vanilla. Pleasant.

I get the sharp Oud note from Oud Wood Eau de Parfum but less of the cardamom. It also reminds me a bit of Montale/Mancera.

Fine incense with woody, creamy notes. Packaged in a noble bottle, it could easily pass as a fragrance in the higher price range. love it!

Initially a Black Afgano touch but then synthetic oud... Sillage weak, longevity okay.
