This is Karma by Lush’s less screechy cousin. Hippie Spirit is all soft edges and gentle patchouli. The incense and hemp blend beautifully. The hemp is not of the skunk variety, but rather a soft herbaceous sort. You won’t smell like you’ve been smoking the devil’s lettuce.nnI bought the oil free spray because I find Alkemia scents in that format, along with the extraits, project better and last longer.nnAs usual, when buying Alkemia you need to let their perfumes rest a few weeks to a month. I keep hearing that this is a myth, however, it is absolutely true for indie perfumes. The indie perfume houses produce their scents in small batches, or even blend per individual bottle, so the perfumes have not had time to macerate before they reach you. Niche, designer and commercial brands have already let their scents macerate before going to market.

Yes, this one is infused with the Hippie Spirit! It does lean more toward head shop incense then green/earthy patchouli however. For a true earthy/dirty patchouli I will reach for one of Darla’s (Whisper Sisters) blends like Graveyard. Hippie Spirit is a little more complex, and perfumy. Slightly sweet, slightly floral. The cannabis accord will NOT make you smell as though you have been smoking weed, it’s nowhere near as skunky as that. To me, it really does smell exactly like the kind of black- light and incense infused shop I used to haunt as a teenager. Very nostalgic.Very good throw/longevity.

Come, Ravi Shankar and play the Champaka

Is she still here, here in my basement room? Someone must have left the door to my homegrow cabinet open; I smell the fresh damp green of the buds and leaves, like a paisley pattern meandering over my mattress. In my mind, I close its door again, watching the glow of the lamps through its slats, the beams of light weaving over the stone floor, cutting through the dust whirls in the room. I don't want to open my eyes.
Is that musk, circling like a thin invisible spell in the cosmos? The aura of Ravi Shankar, he plays the Champaka like a singing sitar. He lets soap bubbles rise into the sphere, bubbling colorful flowers to George Harrison, who sprawls on the flokati playing solos, shimmering in the flicker of the threads of smoke, emerging from myriads of incense sticks, bathing the room in Nag Champa mist, in sandalwood, flowers, and incense.
Is she still here? For six hours, the soap bubble machine hummed, the psychedelic colors danced, the sounds echoed in the basement as if twelve pianos struck a chord at once, first loud and enveloping everything, then gradually fading away in the scent of patchouli, dirty, earthy, dusty, and smoky, making me wonder if this is my cold basement or the scent of her black knitted sweater, in which I am still buried for the next one to two hours.

Hippie Spirit fully meets the expectations that the name evokes. After the authentically green grass whisper at the beginning, which unfolds into a hint of musk, the Nag Champa incense sticks clearly dominate, supported by the eponymous Champaka flowers, transforming you into a wandering Indian shop, initially filling the room, gradually pulling the impression back into a beautiful dirty basement patchouli scent.
Addendum: Unfortunately, the contents also vary greatly. My current bottle contains significantly less Nag Champa, but more hemp flower and musk, which unfortunately takes away much of the edge from the scent.
Alkemia offers both oils and EdPs in spray bottles.

Opens up with big dirty natural patchouli, sweet spicy floral, developing into a more balanced nag champa. I don't really get hemp, sadly

Hypnotic patchouli and incense. Subtle notes of hemp. It smells like a less screeversion of Karma by Lush. Got the alcohol free spray.
