Oh how beautiful is Panama

“Panama smells like bananas from top to bottom.”

You probably think I’ve been sniffing glue instead of Siberian Musk III. But if Siberia smells like SBM III, “from top to bottom,” then book me a ticket quickly!

Oh how beautiful Siberia sounds in my head. SBM III takes me on a journey and doesn’t let me go. Mysterious, wild, but also infinitely vast and free. An incomparable weave of fragrance notes that captivates me and doesn’t lead me to a familiar place or memory; on the contrary, it shows me something new.

ALD and Russian Adam have delivered a masterpiece here, and that’s where the scarcity starts to hurt. It clearly demonstrates that the art of perfumery is a unique craft.

About the scent:
What excites me most about this fragrance is the way it weaves top notes, heart, and base together in an unparalleled manner that initially leaves me a bit overwhelmed. Everything flows toward me and creates images of wild landscapes.

In the opening, SBM III takes you into a beautiful pine forest, but there’s also a certain fresh citrus that conjures lights in the forest. Thus begins the journey.

Very quickly, a wonderful, spicy animalic note flows through the head and magically connects with woods, light citrus, and cradles me on a soft bed of amber and patchouli. Earthy, mossy, warm, soft.

I am completely immersed and find my calm, feeling strong, grounded.

And then I’m curious about how the journey continues. Let’s wait and see! Boarding completed. All doors in flight!

As with most ALD fragrances, we are really in a segment here that certainly causes some gasps at the price. Understandable. But we’re also talking about small batches, high-quality fragrance oils, and a product that is not necessarily mass-appealing. ALD combines classic elements, like in this chypre, with the modern thinking of an exceptionally talented perfumer.

Longevity and sillage are just right for the scent. You wouldn’t want more or less.

Unfortunately, sources in Europe are scarce, and aside from ordering directly from ALD, there isn’t much left. Nevertheless, it’s worth it. I’m already curious about what comes next.
