"Licht der Erde" or something similar
There are many ways to translate Hikaru Daichi. "Light of great wisdom," "Glow of the vast land," etc. When you spray Hikaru Daichi for the first time, each of these translations makes sense.
First of all, I believe this masterpiece deserves more attention, and now that spring is approaching and the sun is gaining strength again, it is the perfect companion for any occasion. Here, niche and signature come together, and the great thing is, it's somehow new, different, fresh, and special.
I have tested several Di Ser fragrances by now, but this one is by far my favorite. Certainly not a bargain at over 5 EUR per ml. But it truly offers top quality.
Sillage and longevity are decent, but of course, at this price point, most people wish for more power. That is more than enough for me.
A few thoughts on the scent:
In my mind, a picture of a journey to Japan emerges, a moment of silence amidst sun-warmed forests. The fragrance starts citrusy-peppery with a zesty freshness from lime, which feels very mystical due to the resinous notes of wood and pine. It's as if you are taking a deep breath during a morning walk in the woods. In the drydown, it becomes wonderfully balsamic-woody and has a very nice depth. For me, it also feels somewhat therapeutic and, above all, very natural.
I can really recommend everyone to try this fragrance, as long as you appreciate quality and the art of perfumery and are not on the hunt for beast-mode scents.
Hikaru Daichi has been on the market for a while, but for me, it is my personal discovery of the year.

35 degrees, high humidity, New York - Time for something fresh!
It was another hot week. 35 degrees, muggy, New York is on fire! Survived 9 days of business travel once again. When I thought this morning about which fragrance would carry me through the day, I didn't have to think long.
Wakening Woods - the ultimate refreshment on super hot days. And completely uncomplicated, versatile, fresh, herb-spicy. With this, I even feel well-perfumed at a business meeting.
The scent doesn't last forever, but to be honest, the price/performance ratio here is truly out of this world. You can easily reapply multiple times a day without it hurting your wallet.
I think Geta Schön has created a masterpiece here in an absolute cheapie price range that should not be missing from any collection. The citrus freshness is a super pleasant companion to the green, woody notes. Coriander and pink pepper are only subtly played around by flowers and then picked up by very nice forest notes.
Longevity and sillage are typical for this type of fragrance, but quite good. You really must not forget the price. And even though I am currently shrinking my collection to 20 fragrances - almost exclusively niche - Wakening Woods has a lifetime residency!

Somewhere between "One Moment in Time" and today ...
After a long time, a fragrance has once again motivated me to write a review.
I am indeed a big fan of Parfums de Nicolaï, and "New York Intense | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï" is one of my absolute favorite scents. This naturally means that I am not only always curious about what this privately run fragrance house releases in terms of creations, but also that I might be a bit subjective in my evaluation. But hey, fragrances are art. Art evokes emotions, and how can one remain completely objective in that regard?
Good mood and joy of life! I truly believe that this is what this fragrance instantly triggers in my mind. Not that there aren't similar scents - we are certainly not talking about innovation here - but more about a very beautiful fragrance that simply makes you eager for the day. If the sun is shining, it's the weekend, and maybe you have something nice planned for the day, then nothing can really stop you.
It's almost a shame that it is limited.
About the fragrance:
Victoire by Parfums de Nicolaï really surprised me positively. For me, it is a zesty, fresh scent that becomes floral and significantly softer in the drydown, which will particularly shine on hot summer days. Yuzu, jasmine, and green tea are at the forefront, giving the perfume a refreshing, invigorating note. In the drydown, the scent shifts slightly more towards a woody, slightly fruity direction, but without any sweetness, which I personally really appreciate. The performance is decent for a freshie, but could certainly be better, and the price/performance ratio is really great.
In my opinion, Victoire differs significantly from the very popular Nicolai scents like "New York Intense | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï" or "Patchouli Intense / Patchouli Homme (Eau de Parfum) | Nicolaï / Parfums de Nicolaï," as I find it to be much rounder and more harmonious, which makes it particularly exciting. The inspiration from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is not so clearly perceptible to me personally - the fragrance exudes a dynamic, energetic atmosphere, yes! But, as has already been mentioned in some statements here, it is an absolutely feel-good fragrance that celebrates life. Perhaps this is even a much clearer reference to the spirit of the Olympics than the actual intention. Overall, a very successful summer fragrance that brings joy and freshness into life. Absolute recommendation to buy!

Oh how beautiful is Panama
“Panama smells like bananas from top to bottom.”
You probably think I’ve been sniffing glue instead of Siberian Musk III. But if Siberia smells like SBM III, “from top to bottom,” then book me a ticket quickly!
Oh how beautiful Siberia sounds in my head. SBM III takes me on a journey and doesn’t let me go. Mysterious, wild, but also infinitely vast and free. An incomparable weave of fragrance notes that captivates me and doesn’t lead me to a familiar place or memory; on the contrary, it shows me something new.
ALD and Russian Adam have delivered a masterpiece here, and that’s where the scarcity starts to hurt. It clearly demonstrates that the art of perfumery is a unique craft.
About the scent:
What excites me most about this fragrance is the way it weaves top notes, heart, and base together in an unparalleled manner that initially leaves me a bit overwhelmed. Everything flows toward me and creates images of wild landscapes.
In the opening, SBM III takes you into a beautiful pine forest, but there’s also a certain fresh citrus that conjures lights in the forest. Thus begins the journey.
Very quickly, a wonderful, spicy animalic note flows through the head and magically connects with woods, light citrus, and cradles me on a soft bed of amber and patchouli. Earthy, mossy, warm, soft.
I am completely immersed and find my calm, feeling strong, grounded.
And then I’m curious about how the journey continues. Let’s wait and see! Boarding completed. All doors in flight!
As with most ALD fragrances, we are really in a segment here that certainly causes some gasps at the price. Understandable. But we’re also talking about small batches, high-quality fragrance oils, and a product that is not necessarily mass-appealing. ALD combines classic elements, like in this chypre, with the modern thinking of an exceptionally talented perfumer.
Longevity and sillage are just right for the scent. You wouldn’t want more or less.
Unfortunately, sources in Europe are scarce, and aside from ordering directly from ALD, there isn’t much left. Nevertheless, it’s worth it. I’m already curious about what comes next.

Intelligent, Spicy Woody Chypre with Signature Potential
Normally, I tell my friend about old-school niche Chypre fragrances, “Smells like dead grandma!” Even though it triggers intense associations for me and brings to mind grandma's makeup table and the scent of the 70s, I’m often not a big fan. Especially since these fragrances always evoke the same association.
With "Moss Cologne | Bortnikoff," however, it’s definitely different. It was love at first spray. Bortnikoff has delivered a masterpiece that is unfortunately underrated.
About the scent:
There isn’t as much citrus as one might expect based on the listed notes, and that’s a good thing. A slightly bitter grapefruit note beautifully opens the fragrance and kicks off a wonderfully beautiful progression.
Initially, jasmine is very present in the development. However, it is deliberately and intelligently taken away from the floral meadow and wonderfully surrounded by spicy and green notes. Nutmeg and oakmoss perfectly complement the fragrance profile.
And then this wonderfully warm, soft, and long-lasting base emerges, which makes the scent very modern and special. A worthy signature!
Longevity and sillage are absolutely top-notch for me. The scent lasts about 6-7 hours on me and is very present in the immediate vicinity. Great bottle, fair price.
I can only recommend it to anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of Chypre. An incredibly wonderful fragrance!
