A sleeper

That's one of the less talked about and imo underrated Bortnikoff fragrances. Excellent fresh oakmoss. At relealse it had a lower price than the main collection, but managed to have the DNA of his best known scents. (Oud monarch, Musk khabib ect.) So for a long time I would recommend it to people who want to find out what Bortnikoff house is all about for a lower price. Easy to wear, and I would even say pretty addictive. I would not call it Bortnikoff best scent.. But in practise I found out that its the one I reach for the most.

quality,but...

having so many of Bortnikoffs, this is not for me. I appreciate more "Chypre du Nord" in this genre. has something in common about "Musk Khabib"? maybe, but MK is a masterpiece, this is not for me. so much appreciated the quality of the raw materials, which in this DB is excellence. Advice? try it in decant before a purchase

The Mossy Cologne

Moss cologne, like the name is hinting, is pretty basic, old-school fragrance. Cologne in the style of old French perfumery, with a Bortnikoff twist. At the top there is a slight mix of different citrusses, mainly grapefruit. However this is very short-lasted as in about 45 minutes this is gone and the mid notes start to rise. Beautifull champaca, a little spice and yes, oakmoss. At it’s last stage, Moss Cologne shows a slightly sour side I didn’t expect. Not sure where this is from, but it’s nice. Atlas cedar aswell as a big dose of ambergris are present here, concluding the fragrance very nicely.

I got the old, wooden cap bottle and man is this clean. Just the simplicity of it all and the golden plaque to finish it off. Very nice. And for those who want to hear it: Performance and longevity is fine, nothing special but okay.

Overall a succefull blindbuy. I love how simple it is, but still so good. Recommending this to anyone who doesn’t mind smelling a little like their grandma, who likes basic colognes or who wants to discover the world of Bortnikoff.

Little brother/sister of Musk Khabib

For me this is a "lite" version of what a Musk Khabib by Bortnikoff would be.
It has a fairly similar scent, so with the resemblance to it, let's say it's a nuanced musk and bergamot bomb.
It has a good projection and silage, shorter lasting than Musk Khabib but quite good and considering that its price is also more affordable, with over-application we have solved the performance issue if it were necessary to take it further in terms of power and/or hours.
The lower intensity in this case makes it easier to dress, for more tastes and occasions.
It is elegant with an attractive sensual point that is not the classic and usual animalic or leather-supported nuance. It's a fresher orientation.
It may be hard to smell it the first time and people not very immersed in niche perfumes find it a bit strange, but then it is not easy to stop smelling it and avoid wanting more.

Grimm Fairytale

Wonderful oakmoss. It opens warm-fluffy, sweet and gourmandy, like something out of a Grimm fairytale. Some woodiness like a sunny autumn forest. It is very inviting. After 30 minutes the opening subsides and the oakmoss becomes the main player, with supporting violet and nutmeg. It reminds me of grandma in the best way.
Oakmoss has a distinct 70s feel and reminds people of my generation of grandma's perfume. This one does as well, only it is an ode to that style of chypre, modern and classic combined. Easy to appreciate but hard to wear for someone my age, as passersby will likely associate this with elderly people. Maybe the next generation can wear chypres like this one again.
I will cherish my sample. In my opinion a deeply emotional scent. Very well blended. I don't get the mustiness some others comment on. Recommended to sample first though!
