Hunter for Men Armaf 2012 Eau de Toilette

I bought this for about 12 USD to compare with the underrated L.12.12 blanc, and while It is clearly inspired by it, there are some key differences.

In the opening this is much sweeter and has less of that citrusy grapefruit. Immediately you realize how synthetic this is. While it dries down, the florals come through and you get some woods, which feel kind of harsh (even after months of maceration) which kind of disappointing. It is clearly missing the suede note which gives depth in the original. It has great longevity for a fresh scent, about 8-9 hours with medium projection.
Side by side, this lasts a lot longer, projects about the same, smells a bit sweeter and woodier, is harsher and more synthetic. The bottle is hideous but surprisingly the atomizer was kind of alright.

I expected it to be closer to the original based on people's opinions. Very synthetic and a bit harsh, though I could see people liking this for what it is, a fresh, clean and cheap daily driver. Try before buying.

I own several Armaf fragrances and by and large am a bit of an Armaf fan, but Hunter is an overpowering synthetic chemical bomb. It is really awful. The only notes I can smell is chemicals.

I was actually just looking for a worthy replacement for "Classic 8.0 / 8.0 | Zara," which unfortunately is no longer sold. Then I read that it is inspired by "L.12.12 Blanc (Eau de Parfum) | Lacoste." So I tried that one. A very solid all-rounder, but the really great thing about 8.0, the melon-mint combo, is missing. Then I eventually stumbled upon this one. And I have to say, it neither really smells like one nor the other. Rather, it smells very good in its own way. A very good freshie, with character and the right dose of sweetness. I like to wear it to work and even after 8 hours, generously sprayed, it is still there. But it never becomes annoying or too "warm," rather it always stays fresh. The bottle itself is more than just a simple bottle with a cap, but it doesn't quite fit the theme. With a leather cover and buckles, I would expect something much darker, more robust, well, leather-like. Especially since the design reminds me of the, in my opinion, quite poorly aged trend of wide leather bracelets from the 00s. Well, whatever. It really just has to smell good, and it definitely does. Given the price, it's an absolute no-brainer that I will definitely not be buying for the last time.
