The Ultimate Version
As someone who has grown tired of Creed Aventus and all of its clones for a good couple of years now, I have to say that even with this thought in my mind, I was kind of excited when I got this scent. Even though Aventus is nowhere near the best offering from Creed, and I could easily list five better scents from their selection, it is by far their most popular fragrance, and the reason why we still see clones of it released almost daily, even in the 2020s. With an open mind, I’ll give you a great selection of reasons why you should consider or skip this release, depending on where you are in your fragrance journey.
TOP NOTES
Precieux 1 is, without a doubt, the best version of CDNI you can own. The drawbacks are obvious, but if you can accept them, I think that you cannot find a better-inspired Aventus perfume. This opening screams quality. From the juicy, sweet pineapple to the almost photorealistic lemon that is enveloped in a peppery zing with a touch of caramel, it is to die for.
HEART NOTES
In the heart notes, ambroxan starts to kick in with a touch of anise and something floral, but I’m not sure whether that is jasmine or Lily of the Valley. For me, the heart phase (lasting a few hours) is sweet but more sophisticated than the top – balanced and a bit mysterious.
BASE NOTES
Eventually, Precieux 1 dries down to a warm, sensual base. In the final hours, I smell deep amber, ambroxan, and a leading player of this composition – the wonderful green oak moss. The oak moss is the reason why I think the whole release is on a whole different level from what we saw in the previous iterations of CDNI.
OVERALL
In conclusion, Precieux is an outstanding fragrance that achieves its intended goal. In my trials, it delivered on its promises: sophisticated depth, strong longevity, and a luxury feel at a designer cost.
