Club de Nuit Uńtōld Armaf

I’ve seen reviews about this “sitting close to the skin” and “not being a projecting scent” and I’m scratching my head as to HOW anyone can come to those conclusions….

ONE SPRAY. BANG!!! The 1st minute is alcoholish/chemical heavy, but all Armafs are like this. Then the next BIG hit… an ELEGANT sweetness that lasts and lasts and lasts. This stuff fills the room and stays for days. Projection is easily 8ft and longevity is till the next day. Sillage sits just as long.

I had to go to the Armaf store in Houston to find it, and I got it for $80 (because you aren’t going to find it online). Despite this being Armaf, and knowing that I’ll find it for half the price in 5 months, I feel like it’s worthy of the price I paid.

It’s already in high demand, as the bottle I got was the last one they had in stock. If you are hunting for it in person, hit the stores that carry Armaf regularly, and you’ll find it; if you don’t see it, ask someone, because they might have it in the women’s section.

It smells like BR540 but cheaper. Just like ALL Armaf clones, it hits the mark, but if you go side by side, you’ll notice the quality differential. The average Joe won’t know, but the junkies who spend the $$ on scents will.

I’m good with it because I was NEVER gonna spend the big $$ on the BR540 because I save my coin for Amouage/Bond/Marley scents.

I never tried Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum , but I fell in love with Elegant Woman and wanted a stronger version of that DNA. With Baccarat Rouge being way out of my budget, Untold felt like the next logical step. When it arrived, I almost cried - all I could smell was a wet sand note. At 40 euros, that hurt. I knew the same thing had happened to me when I first tried Elegant Woman, so I decided not to worry and just leave all the Baccarat dupes alone for a few days.

After my nose had time to reset, I tried Untold again - and I could finally smell sugary cotton candy with flowers and a touch of moss or wood. The only downside is that my brain keeps trying to mute it. I smell it clearly for half an hour, then only a woodsy note, then the sweetness comes back, then disappears again. It's annoying, but I really love the scent.

► Things I learned: Nose blindness is common with this perfume and its dupes. Many angry reviews claim their batch was bad - it's probably not, you just can't smell it, but everyone around you does! Also the wet sand/metallic note is present in Untold, I don't mind it, it's light and it has its own charm, but some might find it unpleasant. Elegant Woman and Belle Icone don't have that note.

► Performance:
I use 3 sprays - one on each forearm and one on the chest. On my skin it lasts around 8 hours, on clothes and paper strips it's basically eternal. On my husband the sillage was strong, the whole room smelled like him for at least 4 hours, and he left a clear scent trail.

I love this DNA so much that I'm on a quest to collect the most popular dupes. So far I have Elegant Woman , Club de Nuit Uńtōld , and Belle Icône (still yet to write a review), and I still wanna get Red Temptation Women Eau de Parfum . So far I love all 3 that I have! :)

UPDATE: it is currently 2 weeks after I bought this fragrance. when I first sprayed it, it smelt sickeningly sweet, so I decided to store it and let it macarate in hopes of getting a better scent later on. I just tried spraying it again and it currently smells awful, like it has turned rancid inside the bottle. I am 100% sure it is not because of how I stored it, I left it in a cool, dark place, and the rest of the fragrances I keep there smell fine. I hope in a few months it smells better but currently I cannot recommend anyone buys this.

UPDATE 2: Currently at the 7 or so week mark, still smells incredibly alcoholic and vinegar like, can't recommend

I am not reviewing this fragrance in terms of how good it is as a clone to BR540, I am reviewing this as if it were its own stand alone fragrance, and personally I think its just a little too sweet. I like it, but damn its smells like such a sugary sweet cotton candy that I cant think or see myself ever actually wearing this. I had my room mate smell it and he said it was sickeningly sweet. I wont hold it against the fragrance too objectively since that would be like ordering an apple pie and complaining about the apples, but I just personally think its too sweet for my tastes and that causes it to be unwearable. otherwise pretty good. the bottle is nice, 7/10. the fragrance sillage and longevity is very strong, really good job there. yeah, just too sweet.

Club de Nuit Untold is an, airy, candy flossy and undescribable scent. It cannot tell a story through its evolution the same way other perfumes will, but it has that wispy quality; you are never quite certain that the scent is there.

Untold does have that signature surgical smell, but I detect some of that round pear vibe along with it. Then, an extreme sweetness settles in, but it isn't very gourmand. It feels like being served a plate of strawberries and cream topped with sugar, and then gently collecting and eating the sugar and nothing else. It doesn't make you crave a fuller scent profile, though, which is very interesting. To finish off, a soft, almost creamy and slightly savory woody accord comes in and helps the scent settle down on skin.

The projection and sillage are decent, but... expect the scent to dance around the room. You will only catch a whiff here and there, and when you do, it will be hard to identify of what it is composed. To me, it makes this thing enigmatic without pushing a mysterious narrative — it does not have a dark, humid, woody vibe. I could still smell it after 12+ hours with four sprays.
The flask is a tad gawdy for my taste and the atomizer is basic.

I have not had any experience with Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum, so I cannot really compare it to that. Untold is a good scent for winter and summer evenings, but definitely sample before buying.

I don't even want to review this fragrance, this is merely a warning:

PLEASE, i mean PLEASE do not over spray this perfume.

If you do I will find you (and yes I will find you because the silage is so damn vast) and I will pick you by your ankles and hang you upside down. After which, I will peel your skin off like a banana, for being a banana and then wear it as a coat.

If you wear this fragrance and spray over 4 times I'm sorry I'm already after you.
