Last year = beautiful skin musk, this year = pencil shavings
Last year's release was beautiful: a "skin musk" blend of slightly-sweetened cardamom, cedar, and musk. It was understated overall, and felt like a beige blanket or something meant for cuddling.
However, this year's version was quite different. The opening was a lovely cardamom and berry (not listed, but definitely felt present) - which quickly disappeared into a cedar and cardamom dry-down.
The way they blended these two notes this year was unfortunately not at all like the previous year. It came across this year similar to pencil shavings, at least to my nose - and it was an instant headache-inducer for me.
So I'd recommend testing it in person first this year, if it's a fragrance you love and want to repurchase - as it might be worth buying an older version, on a resale site somewhere instead.
