Short and painless
As a layering partner to "Sunrise Beach", Berdoues also launched this fragrance in 2020, which, just like his sandy beach friend, is only available in a 30-ml bottle.
I wore this scent in alternation and also in layering with Sunrise Beach for a few days now, as I had bought both for a sharing and the remaining filling made it not worthwhile to move the two cute little ones to their winter quarters for the next summer. So I can justifiably claim to know this fragrance well now - and yet I always find it hard to remember this citrus-vanilla combination when I'm wearing something else. The reason for this seems to me to be above all the indefinability with which a new brew has been created here from known ingredients. The tangy freshness of neroli and bergamot is not discernible from the outset, as this fragrance - like Sunrise Beach - is also not undergoing any development. Right at the beginning, both citrus notes mix with the vanilla and this remains so until the fragrance finally disappears after a few hours, less than five in any case. The sillage is hardly noticeable, although it exists; if a breeze blows through the open car window, I can perceive the perfume very clearly for a moment. But all this is short, reserved and quickly forgotten.
The scent, which develops a few minutes after spraying, is, as already mentioned, a mixture of citrus and vanilla - only, as already mentioned, you cannot smell any of these notes. Neither do the essential oils of the citrus fruit peel open up and produce a refreshing, summery effect, nor does it reveal the sweetness or the frequently encountered unsweet spiciness of vanilla. And there is really nothing to be perceived of lemon. In no way does this fragrance go in the direction of "Sublime Vanilla", "Ani" or other citrus-vanilla gourmands. It still captivates with juicy fruit impressions. All in all, only a sweet, indefinable and distinctly tart, hard tone is revealed, which strongly leaves an impression of artificiality.
All in all, no summer scent that you have to own. It lacks the summeriness; it presents itself rather as a little boring perennial that is never needed. A short pleasure that hurts no one, but doesn't make anyone happy either, I suppose.
