From a supposed "Replica" newcomer to a journey into the past
Through various Parfumo suggestions and also videos on YouTube, I became aware of this fragrance. What makes it so special? Many users write that it should smell like "warm vanilla pudding." Okay?
So, as is often the case, I first studied the fragrance pyramid. Personally, I love vanilla above all, and saffron appeals to me in most cases (not you Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum!) very much. The fragrance categories "Sweet" and "Gourmand" are also my personal favorites in the fragrance world. I was therefore eager to test this one, so I just took a look in the souk to see what offers were available. And only now do I realize: Wow, is it cheap! So (unfortunately), as so often, I didn't think twice and just ordered a used bottle in the souk for just 20€.
The fragrance arrives, I spray it on and... WOW!
I fall into a nostalgic coma. Summer 2023, finally a dream of mine and my family came true: A trip to Japan! There, and especially in all of Asia, the convenience culture is very strong. You can't walk 10 meters without encountering the next セブンイレブン (7/11) or a ファミマート (Family Mart). And there, in the refrigerated section, you find these ready-made puddings everywhere. I am really not a big fan of pudding in general and certainly not of ready-made. And yet... When I smelled this fragrance, I found myself on a sultry summer night around 1:00 AM in a suburb of Kyōto. I'm sitting by the river, just happy, and next to me sits my brother with just this pudding in hand. How I miss that moment!
Now to the fragrance: It could have simply been called "Replica - Afternoon Dessert," and I would have bought it.
It opens strongly vanilla, with saffron gently in the background. Musk joins in quite quickly, resulting in a very sweet, incredibly delicious vanilla pudding that I would love to just eat.
Longevity and sillage are, as described multiple times and also evident from the reviews, rather poor. The fragrance is only perceptible close to the skin after about 2 hours and lasts only about 5 hours. However, I generally wouldn't wear this fragrance when leaving the house. I find it really beautiful; however, I can't find an occasion in everyday life where I want to smell like vanilla pudding. It is all the more beautiful for the colder days when you can just relax at home in the warmth and cozy up in front of the fireplace.
The price is unbeatable! So far, I haven't found a gourmand that costs so little and I like so much at the same time. Excuse my cheesy story, but this aspect makes this fragrance one of my favorites. Clear purchase recommendation for everyone who loves vanilla!
