The 80's was the age of fougères and they occupied the industry as orientals are doing today. And like always, only the nobles survive.
Bijan Men, although is regenerated in 1987, still has considerable charm and class and, in my idea, is one of the most innovative fougères ever that tends to chypre. It's around honey, moss, leather and clary sage. An ultradandy ultrachic heritage. And… among a collection of about 100 perfumes, it is what I wore in my wedding! Still splendid.

Superpowerhouse

I have read elsewhere among a forum dedicated to lovers of powerhouses, that Bijan men perhaps is too powerful for its own good (or words to that effect). I disagree. This richness of this fragrance is almost without peer, but it is well balanced and classy. There are so many things going on that it is hard to adequately describe Bijan Men. It ranks alongside Montana parfum d'Homme and Quorum in terms of powerhouse kick. I prefer it to either of them, however. I find it more powerful than the Montana and more complex and less sharp than the Quorum. The musk in Bijan is what separates it from the other two, giving it a more animalistic aspect. For those who like the original Chaps by Ralph Lauren, Bijan, though a later creation is it's big brother. 1981 certainly was an outstanding year for men's fragrances!

Warm, classic masculinity

I once read a review that described this fragrance as a "big mossy hug from burt Reynolds" haha.

Definitely an 80s fragrance but IMO many men could pull this off today.
Very spicy. Warm and inviting.

Unique in that it doesn't necessarily remind me of any other fragrances that were released in the same era.

It's an enjoyable, unique fragrance you should add to your rotation.

Totally 80s in all the right ways

Bijan is the quintessential mens 80’s scent
Opening with a banquet of citrus fruits and aromatics. Blending into the honeyed bouquet of florals woods and spices all of which play into the base of vanilla leather a dash of more aromatics and the all powerful patchouli. This is the everything bagel of fragrances. The epitome of excess. However usually fragrances that have this much going one are a mess at best. Bijan for men however, is masterfully blended to perfection it works.

While the current formula is not as powerful as the vintage (which I own also). It has been well cared for and maintains the overall scent while also for todays standards powerful as well.

One Of The Strongest Powerhouses Ever...

*This is a review of the vintage juice.

Vintage Bijan for Men opens with a gorgeous but all too brief splash of fresh herbal-laced bergamot before transitioning quickly to its key heart notes of very powerful oakmoss (most likely not replicated in the current version due to its recent restrictions), coniferous fir, honey and patchouli, with a significant carnation floral undertone used for support, along with herbal notes like sage and rosemary among many others. Leather and musk in the base both easily make their way to mingle with the heart notes, creating a very complex accord that is an amalgamation of these and many other notes; too many to mention. The overall accord is quite the extremely complex and dense mixture of coniferous and mossy green, herbal and soapy aspects, floral and almost earthy leathery. Projection and longevity are stellar.

Vintage Bijan was a blind buy for me, and it is a great one. It is super-powerful, so a little goes a long way and over-applying is all too easy and not recommended unless you are looking to call attention to yourself in all the wrong ways. This is one where I am glad I have a "splash on" bottle instead of the spray, as it is much easier to regulate the amount you apply that way (and I can't emphasize that a little goes a long way again strongly enough). The accord contains so many notes that it would be all too easy to screw-up the composition, but I find the complex combination of the soapiness with the oakmoss spiked coniferous herbal floral leather bomb works quite well and is extremely "masculine" smelling to my nose. Bijan for Men has major 80's powerhouse written all over it and it is quite amazing. I could definitely see others being put-off by its strength if over-applied (do you notice a trend to my warnings?), but when used in moderation vintage Bijan for Men is highly recommended and I give this classic powerhouse winner an excellent 4 stars out of 5.
