The Strange Slow Sleeper Lemon
With a perfume called Matin d´Azur, which translates to a morning on the French Riviera, you expect a fresh fragrance that kicks either with a good aquatic or just lemon. Here it is the latter that sets the tone, but in the beginning very synthetic and somewhat awkward.
At this stage, I am strongly reminded of the artificially pricked citrus fruits in the Lô waters of Santi Burgas and of AB from Blood Concept, in which the lemon appears unnaturally overdriven. The comparison with cleaning agents and abrasives is not too far-fetched. Pleasant is different.
One wonders why the fragrance is so well rated here. A little later the morning seems more awake and the olfactory picture appears clearer, because the lemon changes together with some other fresh ingredients somewhat more mineral and possibly even more metallic. Keep cool, but with ambition.
If you wait a few more hours, the lemon has finally risen and presents itself with the combination of the sweet Osmanthus and the smooth guaiac wood already quite creamy.
And much later only sweet woody creaminess remains in the end, but without the promised suede content.
To sum up, I would say that Matin d´Azur has a relatively bad citrus note, which unfortunately develops much too late. One could be afraid that some have wiped the spray mist off their arm or wrist out of disappointment with a sour expression.
Things will improve afterwards, but the overall grade will not be higher than average.
I think there are more interesting things in this segment that embody the morning on the Côte d´Azur.
