"Montauk" - the end of everything, or the beginning of bliss
During my Sturm und Drang period, New York was my chosen home.
After my studies at the university in Germany, I was magically drawn to New York to study market sciences there.
The path there was very rocky, costing me a lot of energy and financial strength. Finally, I managed to secure a study place at the State University of New York - Brockport. During this time, I got to know and love this breathtaking, multifaceted, and never-sleeping city.
That’s why I am biased towards the brand Bond No.9, as it has made it its mission to ensure that each fragrance represents a specific location in Downtown, Midtown, or Uptown, honoring each New York neighborhood with its own scent.
Of course, not every fragrance is creatively designed to the end, but that depends on the economic policies of the perfume house. Not to mention the pricing.
But one must not scorn part of the flankers, such as Montauk by Bond No.9.

In my opinion, Montauk is a truly wonderful creation.
The perfume reflects exactly what makes the place special.
Montauk, a picturesque little fishing village, is referred to by locals as "The End" - that is, the end of Long Island - and is located at the easternmost tip of the island. The area is known for its magnificent beaches and rugged coastal landscapes and is considered a popular weekend getaway for New Yorkers.
Montauk is not only known as a water sports area but also as an excellent spot for anglers and fishermen.
I had the pleasure of visiting this place several times during my time studying in New York with my good friend Greg from university.
Greg was an enthusiastic nature lover and an avid fisherman, as he was in the book. The scent evokes exactly those fresh, fruity, and woody accords that linger in the air there. A wonderful interplay of a slightly sweet, synthetic accent that completes the perfume.
Whenever I smell this wonderful creation today, I am transported back to that time and begin to indulge in memories.
A certain longing for this magnificent, dreamy place arises within me, but also a certain bliss that I was able to visit Montauk.

no playing child with ball
I love visiting museums - especially when Chagall is on display.
The "Floating" in his paintings speaks to me very much.
Some good prints adorn my home walls.
My imagination is stimulated - without me getting lost in thought.

However, I struggle with abstract art.
I am called to interpret - and life is already heavy with interpretations.
I fondly remember the situation in front of the Bochum Art Museum, where a concrete block stands at its entrance, and a friend, with a grand gesture, declared: Here, ladies and gentlemen, you see our latest artwork: Playing Child with Ball!
We doubled over with laughter.

That's why I like the Bonds, as they do not raise unnecessary questions, are always friendly and approachable - and very durable.
When they are accused of banality and triviality, I am puzzled, as I rather think of the attributes "uncomplicated" and "unproblematic."
And so I also encounter Montauk.
Fresh and woody - an appealing yet unusual combination, as I find.
The blueberry adds a tasty fruitiness, and the aromatic driftwood gives character without stubbornness, and without weighing down the fragrance.

A loyal companion that adapts to me - and not the other way around.

Montauk again...the disillusionment comes!
Anyone who has read my previous Bond No.9 comments knows that I appreciate the brand and often couldn't understand the bashing. Sure, they are super expensive and there is often a high level of synthetics, but it's hard to criticize winners like New Harlem or Andy Warhol. And nobody has to buy the flops, especially not at that price. Plus, you don't get anything from the snobbish New York teen audience here. So, everything is actually cool. But then along comes a Montauk that plays right into the hands of all the haters and stabs me in the back.

Because this is simply not a good perfume, too simplistic even for designer standards and the synonym for boredom at an overpriced price. Montauk is a simple summer fragrance, citrusy, floral, woody, and it lacks any quality, zest, and enthusiasm that a good perfume should have to sweeten my World Cup summer. It is indeed simple, clearly structured, and wearable, far from being a stinker and also wearable by the ladies - but still, I cannot agree with the YouTube comments this time at all. Even if it is well-received by women, it has nothing special, and even an Ed Hardy Love & Luck has more to offer.

The opening is citrusy and with a nice blueberry is still the highlight. After that, I only feel disappointment and emotional emptiness. Floral and woody, a scent you would expect more from the DM shelf or from David Beckham. For €15, it's definitely not a burden and pleasant - for €150, it's a disgrace and not a good showcase for the good Andy Warhol!

Bottle: colorful and actually eye-catching and successful.
Sillage: very light and easy to pass on. Too light,
Longevity: even in the usual parade discipline, it fails here - 4-6 hours.

This Montauk is worse and more arbitrary than any Monday morning - thumbs down and better move on to Coney Island or Fire Island!

Unusual Bond
If I had done a blind test here, I would never have guessed that my beloved brand Bond 9 was behind this.
Montauk is a fresh, slightly woody fragrance that (unfortunately, unfortunately) reminds me very much of the modern average men's scent. A few citrus notes here, a bit of wood there - one-dimensional and dull. This is not a worthy Bond fragrance.
