Fresh Take on a Familiar DNA — Lovely, But Not Worth the Hype (or Price)
I quite like Greenwich Village, but it’s not a love for me. It was recommended as something with a similar vibe to Baccarat Rouge 540, and I do think if you like one you’ll like the other, but Greenwich Village is more fruity and fresh - I think it’s a more spring or summer appropriate interpretation of some of the BR540 DNA.

The suggested retail price of this fragrance is absolutely insane however, and I would never pay much more than $150 for a 100mL. The lasting power on my skin is ok, but not as long as some of its middle eastern inspired alternatives, which is kind of disappointing considering the price difference.

Overall, I think it’s a beautiful fragrance but it’s not one I must have or have to search out the best cheap alternative to. I enjoyed wearing it in the evening before bed most, so if I found a mini or small decant at a really good price I might pick it up again but for now I am happier with my other BR540-esque scent profiles.

A really nice spring and summer scent
Juicy and sweet with a faintly powdery musk, an overall super gorgeous fragrance. I definitely much prefer this to the Baccarat Rouge DNA which, although I think is nice, I find much more powdery. Cloud, a dupe of Baccarat even more so. I also personally think Greenwich Village smells similar to Ana Abiyedh which is just a bit less sweet. As someone who’s super sensitive to jasmine (and white florals in general), I hardly notice it here. Has moderate sillage and lasts about 7 hours on me. I saw that this was compared to Wedding Silk but I disagree. Wedding Silk Santal is less sweet and has a very distinct champagne note.

This one is a total miss
That was my friend's opinion when she smelled Greenwich Village. I received Greenwich Village as a small sample with a purchase at the Souk. To be honest, I never really cared for this scent. So I had no idea what to expect here.

Unfortunately, there is a lot waiting for you after spraying, but nothing good. I just smell BR 540 combined with a load of indefinable fruity notes. I have to say at this point that I really do not like BR 540 at all, but if I read the fragrance pyramid, I would never guess a similarity. Unfortunately, Greenwich Village is even worse for me than BR 540 because this really penetrating fruity note makes Greenwich Village feel so chaotic and unbalanced. In short, I find it truly awful. I only smell saffron and can’t recognize any other fragrance notes except for vanilla.

For me, it is really a terrible scent. It could also be that an accident happened in the lab and all the fragrance notes ran into each other.

Unfortunately, Greenwich Village also lasts like glue, on the skin for over 15 hours; I couldn't test it longer because I took a shower. On clothing, Greenwich Village lasts for days, and even a wash couldn't remove the scent 100%.

However, I still give the scent 4 points because there are certainly BR 540 fans who might like it more than I do.

Fruity-Cool Good Mood Fragrance
The first thought was fruity, cool, makes you feel good and somehow always fits for a boost. Of course, Ambroxan is a dominant ingredient, but it is well wrapped and suppressed by the many little fruits - good thing, so it is pleasantly soft. The development remains fruity delicious, with the vanilla and praline topping being very tasty, almost nibble-worthy. I think 99 out of 100 people can wear and like it; it's such a good mood companion. After about 1 hour, it smells like a fruit variation infused with white chocolate. I see it more in spring and summer; for the cold season, it lacks a bit of warmth and depth. The bottle in that lovely green-turquoise is a dream, the price is really olala and unfortunately not suitable for every budget.

Best Friend on the Enemy List
I tested Greenwich Village based on a YouTube recommendation. It was only roughly described, so I had a prior idea of floral, aquatic but supposedly very special. It is said to be anything but normal, rather a showstopper/scent-stopper.
Okay, here we go: ordered a tester.
First spray: "Uhhh very nice. Fresh, fruity, floral, aquatic, special. What is Baccarat Rouge doing here? Hi! You are very welcome!" (I had never heard of that comparison before/wasn't influenced by it beforehand)
After half an hour, the drydown slowly comes: somehow it starts to sting in my head. It becomes unpleasantly piercing. "Uhhmm hello La Vie est Belle.... please go away!"
But no: she pulls out her club and keeps hitting me over the head until I am dazed and give up from the headache. I can't take it anymore. I'm dazed.
After hours of blows, my two friends Baccarat Rouge and Aqua-Seerose occasionally come by to check on me. But by that point, I am already long knocked out.

It smells good in the opening but isn’t worth the price, even on sale. Takes on a house cleaning product vibe on dry down.

A nice airy fruitiness, but definitely leans floral feminine, even for me who often enjoys "feminine leaning" scents

To be honest, I do like this fragrance when I can smell it. And that's the problem.. it's very faint on me.

Fruity, soapy latex gloves at the dentist's office. The Bond no. 9 shampoo DNA pushes this into urinal cake/cleaning product territory.
