Nice, quiet, green

This fragrance had a true odyssey behind it on its way to me. Ordered online I had to wait almost a month until he came to me (you can read about it in my blog "DHL Stories"). I sprayed him in the Galeria Kaufhof every now and then on the back of my hand or wrist and then often led my nose there and thought "Ohhh.... Ahhh... How beautiful. Therefore he was put on the wish list and was bought when a good offer was made. Honestly - the Uvp he is not "worth" (in my eyes), I think 100€ would be an absolutely reasonable price.
Because;
He doesn't reinvent the wheel, he doesn't touch it, and he's nothing special overall - he doesn't have that wow effect like a couple of other bonds.
But he has this "want to smell regularly on the wrist" factor, is light and fresh, green and has a kind of dimmed down creamy spice. He has the green of Cool Water and GIT, but is less masculine and loud. He is also not herb, rather gentle, almost cute (compared to the latter two). To me he is a little too reserved, the Sillage is nice, but no comparison to other, louder bonds, the durability becomes so after 1-2 hours very closely, remains then however still further approx. 4 hours available.
I don't know if I would classify him unisex, I don't think so, but I'm sure there are also women who like him, and here he has a few perfumes :).
I think the fragrance is wonderful, it interprets GIT in a softer way, but it lacks a bit of wow and sillage. Perfect everyday scent, but not too conspicuous. The current figure of 6.7 is too low, but it can also be due to the high price and the associated claim.

I think Bond No. 9 is FANTASTIC;

And this one is a perfect example of why. People like to say that the Bond line rips Creed off, but the only one I remotely smell similarities in is the bond.com. I absolutely LOVE Chez Bond AND the scent of peace.

While this might seem relatively close to GIT to some people, it’s definitely got a “feel of it’s own”. The longevity of the Bond line is what got me going. This one goes an easy 8+ hours, and the sillage trail it leaves is light, but still magnificent; remember this is a “freshie”... and it goes ALL DAY LONG.

Also, there’s a signature note you get in the openings of Bond scents that is simply intoxicating. I’ve done the Creed, AND I’ve done the Parfums de Marly, and I personally think the Bond line is superior. The sillage in the Bond fragrances are simply HEAVENLY, and they just carry people away. They might be rather pricey in retailers like Bloomingdales, but you can find them at sites like FragranceX and Maxaroma for great prices. At those rates, this line is the winner.

Might Work as a Splash After a Polo Match?

Although I roundly reject the often reiterated "Bond no 9 ripped off Creed" allegation, which seems to be most commonly made by people who are comparing the price tags rather than the frags, I do think that CHEZ BOND is the most Creed watery of all of the Bond no 9s I've tried to date.

I do not, however, think that CHEZ BOND smells like GIT or the other Irish Spring offerings chez Creed. CHEZ BOND happily lacks the ever expanding cloud of synthetic green that makes those Creeds pretty unappealing to me.

Nonetheless, CHEZ BOND is not a fragrance that I find very appealing on its own terms, either. It's too masculine for me, smells a lot like a classic cologne that someone might splash on after a polo match. I'm all for universality, but this one does not work for me.

Expensive Boredom

Chez Bond is one of the few labelled men's perfumes in the large portfolio of Bond No. 9. These strange flasks are beautiful, or - at least – inventive. As a perfume lover, you definitely want to know what's inside. Many customers allow themselves to be deceived by the elaborate packaging and the high price – but Bond No.9 is simply keeping up appearances.

With Chez Bond, we are on common ground. There are loads of perfumes like this, usually available for a moderate price at any perfume chain store.

Chez Bond has a beautiful top note, its citric accord tends somewhat towards tangerine. In the heart note, things are getting interestant: I smell an undefined floral note. Whoever supposes a relation to Pradas great Amber pour Homme just because this note is called “violet leaf” will be disappointed. Here, this is by far too vague and arbitrary. At least, these faint florals are contrasting against something sturdy, dark, that remind me a little bit of shoe-shine. But also this accord is only adumbrated.

After one or two hours this poor magic is over, and Chez Bond is reduced to that dry and bitter base note that we know from so many mid-priced perfumes: sometimes, it is called “amber”, sometimes the pyramids quote woody notes as this is the case here. This is just not enough – nothing stays on the skin but this bitter dishwater that keeps on annoying its wearer for hours!

Maybe I can agree with other parfumo users who see a connection to Creed's Green Irish Tweed, but not at all to Davidoff's Cool Water – that would be overpraised. Cool Water, at least when it came out, was an extraordinary individual perfume with a very high recognition value – but Chez Bond, on the contrary, is completely average and mainstream. It may not show all rough and raspy aspects of its cheap relatives, due to a simple trick: it seems to be highly diluted. For an acceptable scent experience, one has to spray a lot! In addition to that, Chez Bond stays very close to the skin.

All things considered, Chez Bond is something in between Bleu de Chanel, Boss Bottled Night and Allure Homme Edition Blanche – and the last two scents are much more interesting.

Of course, Chez Bond does not give you the value for your money, but whoever does not know or appreciate much else as Bleu de Chanel, some Hugo Boss perfume and the like may get talked into the assumption that Chez Bond is something very classy. However, I regret having spent so much time with that perfume sample of Chez Bond.
