The thick end comes later
Yesterday I sprayed Sandalwood on a cloth and it seemed unspectacular to me - almost tame.
Nice notes of carrot and fig reached me, and that was it.

My sales associate informed me that this fragrance absolutely belongs on the skin and takes a long time to develop.
Said - done.

On my wrist, spicy cardamom and powdery iris join the carrot and fig, making the scent profile already more colorful.

Where is the sandalwood?

Several errands later, hours afterward - lounging on the couch with my girlfriend - we are unexpectedly hit by a whole wave of sandalwood - like Grandpa's freshly whipped shaving foam.
My girlfriend and I widen our eyes, and we are distracted from the boring TV program.
The source of the soapy magic is my wrist!
There is the sandalwood, underpinned by oak moss.
It makes itself comfortable between us and doesn't let go of me.
My girlfriend cautiously suggests whether the scent might be a bit too intense?
I also find the sandalwood appearance somewhat overwhelming and am uncertain as well.
On the other hand, I like the scent association with my grandpa.

However, by our farewell at midnight, the sandal note has calmed down, allowing the other ingredients to speak again.
We are reconciled with the scent - but I wonder if I really like the long-lasting sandal crescendo.

The considerations continue even today, because despite numerous washings, the scent is still clinging to me.
This loyalty, in turn, touches me.

Carrot Puree à la Carte
Just had it sprayed on at Albrechts in Frankfurt. And even if it were on the menu: I would never order it!

That I don't have a beef with Bond No. 9 like some others here can be seen from my collection. But the New York line is too much for me even. No perfume from this line smells like it should according to its name. This is also the case here!
The only thing my nose perceives is carrot! Bright red carrot. Well, at least the color of the bottle fits the picture - it's going into orange. I've already noticed with many scents that iris smells like carrot to my nose (as in Dior Homme Intense or Silver Iris by Atelier Cologne). Without knowing the fragrance pyramid, I again guessed iris. And when I then saw here that even carrot is explicitly listed, it was over for me. Can someone please tell me what kind of person has a preference for smelling like carrot? And what does that have to do with sandalwood? For me, nothing!
All the other perfume components can be safely forgotten. For me, the carrot simply overpowers EVERYTHING. That's not nice. No. It almost hurts! Great that Bond thinks they have experimented with a combination of fig, papyrus (oh my!) and ultimately also amber and sandalwood. However, they are merely obscuring the fact that carrots were chopped up and boiled into a broth. The extract was then poured into this beautiful vessel. Just slap a price tag on it that says "330" and it's done: the eye-wash for the customer.

After my little rant, the only positives to mention are the longevity and the well-known Bond bottle. Otherwise, New York Sandalwood gives me yet another reason to bury this line and create something beautiful, "independent" again.

Exceedingly disappointed, I now stomp through downtown Frankfurt like a carrot. I am often told that I have the figure for it too. Whatever. This one certainly won't be on my table. Check, please!

Iris eats a little carrot and powders her nose.
The fig is timid and hides away.
Sandalwood stands there, completely dry.

Actually, this scent gets darker over time instead of lighter, with sandalwood giving way to medium brown, shiny amber/musk.

For me, papyrus stands out clearly, probably because I don't like it. Otherwise, gentle woody notes. Nice scent, just not for me!

Creamy-woody nonlinear spice scent that becomes drier on a musk/amber/moss base
No carrot!
A sort of quieter "Aoud Musk"

Great sandalwood scent supported by spicy cardamom; papyrus harmonizes well with it. A perfume I primarily recommend for men.

Warm woods, incredibly pleasant and not boring, not overly intrusive oriental. I like it!

Beautiful, dark sandalwood scent. Strong, earthy, high-quality. Luckily, the oak moss I hate doesn't come through. Nice, but too expensive for me.

Quite similar to Bentley for Men Absolute. However, this one is significantly cheaper. Good longevity & sillage here.
