Nuits de Noho Bond No. 9 2003 Eau de Parfum

There can be no denying that Bond no 9 NUITS DE NOHO is very ANGELesque, which is *not* to say angelic, and I hasten to add that Bond's shadowy stalker is considerably less demonic than the original dark ANGEL.

Still, the fault-lines are pretty easy to predict: if you love ANGEL, you will love NUITS DE NOHO. If you abhor ANGEL all the way down to the finish, then you will equally abhor NUITS. However, there is a glimmer of hope for one category of ANGEL haters here: NUITS DE NOHO does not have any of ANGEL's strident purple opening. Basically, the creator of this fragrance cut through all of that repulsive moldy white bread smattered with grape jelly and offered up only the ANGEL drydown.

I find that I rather like this perfume, what was never true for ANGEL. The big plus for me is the emphasis on the white florals (big jasmine). There is something luscious and wonderful about this syrupy white floral patchouli perfume.

I admit, I have a soft spot for Bonds.

Maybe because I live in the birthplace of James Bond - the exciting Wattenscheid?

Well, Mr. Bond was British, and the fragrances come from the USA - but the naming evokes associations for me.

In any case, I always find a reason to take a detour to my regular perfumery and reach for the stars.

Of course, just to sniff - and then end up softening.
Like the Bond girl who initially plays hard to get - and then ends up in bed with the suave James.

And so I also succumbed to the charm of Nuits de Noho, when the nice saleswoman and I, while sampling, simultaneously uttered the magic word: "chocolate."

This creamy chocolate note, topped with vanilla, immediately had me hooked.
The pineapple leaf is sweetly green, accompanied by fresh, tart mandarin.
Jasmine and rosewood envelop me femininely, and the patchouli adds an exotic mystery.

I feel like a long-legged Bond girl on a secret mission in the chocolate factory.

With the star of the bag, I gracefully climb into the "Aston Martin" and hum my way home to my James - to Wattenscheid.

... said my youngest daughter when I held my arm under her nose today "Smell this!" She sniffed the fragrance completely unbiased and she's right.
A loud American that comes on strong and uninspired right from the application. A sweet-citrusy brew that later smells like mowing the lawn and simultaneously crushing all the dandelions while mercilessly messing with the jasmine bush.
This fragrance holds no secrets and no fascination at least until the base, which then becomes quite nice, creamy, and vanillic. But many other fragrances have that too.
I'm sorry, but with the fragrances I've tested from Bond No. 9 so far, I absolutely cannot understand the hype and the price.
The Bond creators would have done well to go to school with Misses Lauder, who really brought innovative and excellently thought-out fragrances from top to base note to the market in the USA.

I received a very generous sample of Nuits de Noho from a dear member. Since I really like Bond fragrances, I waited for a relaxed moment to test it. So here I am, comfortably lying in my bed in the dim light of my bedside lamp, opening the fragrance package, excited like a child, and unscrewing the cap of the sample bottle from the pharmacy supply to dab some on my forearm. But, oh dear, unfortunately this little bottle didn't have a dropper like it usually does, and in no time at all, nearly the entire bottle, several milliliters, emptied onto my forearm and my bedspread. Everything was wet, and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry over my clumsiness.
Anyway, this is my mega test and long-term test, because until the next change of bed linens, we will now be sleeping together, the fragrance and I :-)
As for the scent itself, Kankuro has actually said everything already, see below. The similarity to Angel is indeed there, but Nuits de Noho is much softer and doesn't scream as loudly as Angel. At first, I perceive an ethereal herbaceousness that I don't like at all. Then the fragrance unfolds into a full-bodied direction. However, there is something that bothers me and I don't like. It is clearly patchouli. I don't like patchouli-heavy fragrances because I always associate patchouli with going out. In this respect, the name of the fragrance is very telling, as "Nuits" is meant to be associated with "going for a walk." I am very glad that there is vanilla in the base to soften the patchouli a bit. But somehow the ethereal, herbaceous undertone doesn't quite want to disappear, and I don't know where it might be coming from. I can only explain it through the combination of a bitter bergamot peel and the esoteric wafts of patchouli.
Overall, the fragrance doesn't suit my taste, but only because I generally don't like patchouli; otherwise, it's a very good scent that would immediately appeal to all Angel and Innocent lovers. I would only use it for going out. It's not suitable for everyday wear. So that's my assessment of the fragrance so far, but let's see, maybe I'll add something later, after all, we still have some shared nights ahead of us. And what doesn't love each other, you just have to lock up together for a few days; that's how enemies can quickly become friends...
