Beautiful, "wild" cocktail - Leather meets wild berries
First of all: Brooklyn Soap - a more than solid men's grooming brand.
This fragrance is no exception to the above, but rather a statement.
About the scent..
I purchased it around October 2022 through the brand's website, as this brand has been my number one go-to men's care brand in everyday life for some time now.
The notes of "Purple Ink" appealed to me more than just promising.
I simply love leather scents with depth and character.
My biggest weakness when it comes to perfumes.
So, said, seen, bought.
Delivery was quick and reliable.
Back then, I was still new to the fragrance world, and I must admit that this fruity, warm berry/leather/oud/fruit cocktail knocked me off my feet.
Definitely in a positive sense!
In the opening, you can recognize the mandarin, which shifts somewhere between juicy and dry and is very subtly accompanied by a fruity tartness.
Then, after about 5-10 minutes, the stars of the show take the stage.
And the stars of the show are definitely the berry accords, somewhere between blackberry, blueberry, and blackcurrant, which, to my nose, come across very harmoniously with a beautiful suede accord.
Oud and patchouli provide, here in a subtly dosed manner, depth that suits the fragrance's DNA well. Vanilla and rose are only subtly perceptible but make the overall picture very comforting.
Level of the fragrance:
Definitely niche, and in my opinion, it is rated much too poorly here.
Or, I am just a "sucker for berry leather scents" (of which I believe there aren't enough on the market!)
The fragrance lasts about 6-7 hours on my skin. On clothing, significantly (!) longer. Here, I'm talking about at least 3 days.
The sillage is decent in the first hour, then it slowly but surely moves towards the skin.
After two hours, Purple Ink becomes a skin scent, where it remains until the final fade.
Conclusion:
Warm fruit, leather cocktail that works well in autumn, winter, and especially in spring.
I still really like the scent to this day.
I will probably reorder it soon.
Longevity is okay.
Sillage is unfortunately rather below average, considering that the pyramid offers such depth and the whole character of the perfume rather screams for a strong sillage.
I will probably reorder it again soon, but this is a scent for which I would really wish for an extrait version!
P.S.:
Maybe I'm the only one, but I can't deny a certain similarity to "Nouveau Monde | Louis Vuitton."
