Ambivalent...
I have an ambivalent stance towards this fragrance...
I tested this scent for the first time at an Irish concert; the setting couldn't be more fitting.

It starts off sweetly alcoholic, then transforms into a woody aroma with malty sweetness, not bad at all. Somehow, the fragrance feels a bit one-dimensional to me, whisky? Could be, or is it just arnica extract in ethanol?

The sillage is thankfully not too strong, and the longevity is good.

For me, it's not something that belongs in my collection and not the best scent from Brooklyn.

Alcohol Pure
If you are into the scent palette of an Irish Pub, this fragrance is just right. Whisky and smoke hit you straight in the face. Personally, I find the scent a bit too harsh and it lacks that certain something in the dry down. However, those who enjoy "rustic" smells should definitely get their money's worth here.

Mhm... full barrel!
"Wow"! I thought to myself after the perfume settled on my skin.
The first spray on the skin exudes a very deep sweetness and dark wood, wood and wood!
Far in the background a hint of smoke, predominantly sweet resinousness.
Sweet spice, a small touch of freshness.
Along with a kind of earthiness.

I find it best to compare it to fragrance compositions that pursue a similar idea:
The sweetness is far from that of "A*Men Pure Malt," from which I had hoped for more whiskey and spice and was disappointed in that regard. "Pure Malt" feels softer to me in comparison.
It has a classic barber elegance like "Rum Knuckels," but much spicier. It is not meant in the sense of a classic barbershop scent, but that's how I personally envision the true barber scent.

The listed ingredients of the heart note become clearly prominent here after half an hour to a full hour and are still individually perceptible to my inexperienced nose.
Rose? Absolutely! Vetiver? Yes! Tobacco? Of course! Oak wood? Completely! At least that's how it feels to me personally.

Certainly not for the average perfume wearer. For no one who prefers compositions that are agreeable or pleasing to the general public. For no one under 26 years of age. So rather for the young, mature adult. No, it’s not an old man’s perfume either.
It feels too modern for that, even though the perfume draws on a classic. This classic is meant in the old-fashioned sense, as it often corresponds to today’s zeitgeist.
For every lover who appreciates the earthy aromas of an Islay Scotch (even though it’s actually called The Irish), warmth, spice, and classic dark wooden furniture. I believe that person will not be disappointed! No matter how young or old they are.

As for the sillage, it is quite dynamic. Sometimes my nose gets used to the scent, so that I don’t perceive it distinctly. Then a strong whiff comes over, making me think that one should dose The Irish carefully. Especially at the beginning, it comes with a punch. But it settles into a tolerable measure for the immediate environment over time.

The longevity is somewhere in the decent middle range. The perfume projects more from clothing. The next morning, my clothes still smelled good of the perfume. On the skin, it becomes relatively close to the skin and intimate in sillage after about seven to nine hours.

I can’t say much about the bottle, as I have the Discovery Set available. Here, Brooklyn Soap Company should consider labels that hold better. Otherwise, an appealing packaging design.

For me personally, it means: finally, I have a long-sought perfume composition that I have been looking for. In a relatively affordable price range.

The name The Irish is fully on point.
Old-school sailor tattoos, whiskey, flannel, tweed, and fleece fabrics, antique wood, old, worn Irish bars, pleasant tobacco, salty sea air, fragrant meadows and forests in autumnal tree resin. Mhm.

Are the €70 for 50 ml worth it? Hm, hard to say. My critique would be that the perfume lacks finesse and complexity. Despite the many facets I encountered, it feels like a perfume that could also be cheaper.

Thank you for reading! Please forgive me if my comment became lengthy or seemed uninformed.

Save yourself the expensive drunken night.
Just take a sip, and you're already tipsy.
Lie down nicely on the muddy path.
A party corpse without a hangover.*

Bulky! On one hand, it's fuzzy woody; for whisky, I miss the smoky notes. On the other hand, it's musty floral thanks to marigold and arnica. Interesting, but ...

A nice, woody scent with bitter, dry vetiver. Whiskey reminiscences, but overall rather thin.
