Cucumber Salad with Watermelon
Calvin Klein is not necessarily one of my favorite brands, but I have used it before, as some fragrances do smell quite nice. Now, after such a long time (and in the constant search for good summer scents), I tested CK One Summer 2015. One reason was the nicely designed bottle, which tempted me to try it. Well, not the bottle itself, but the great colors of it.
What came out of it, you can read below...
What is the scent like?
The opening is very good. It smells very fresh, and also citrusy, but a bit watery and fruity as well. You can best smell the watermelon here, while the lemon and juniper berry take a slight backseat, although the lemon is already stronger. Later, these citrus notes fade a bit and the watermelon moves into the background, while now the cucumber comes into play (while here in the heart note, ginger and anise appear weakly). The cucumber smells quite fresh and natural. It is simply the fragrant scent you associate with relaxing by placing cucumber slices on your eyes and lying down to unwind. Then you always get that cucumber scent in your nose, and sometimes you take the cucumber slices and hold them to your nose to sniff the lovely, fresh scent more intensely. And sometimes you even eat them (uuorgh,… cucumbers with eye flavor…).
After the cucumber, a bit of ginger comes into play and makes the scent a little spicier. The musk and amber at the end are only very faintly present, so the scent remains quite light and airy. The fresh (and also the remaining, weak citrus) notes stay, but unfortunately, they don't smell as good at the end as they did at the beginning.
The longevity is quite okay; you shouldn't expect miracles, but it stays on the skin for about 3-4 hours (of course, gradually fading). The sillage is also above average and comparable to Jil Sander Sun Men. However, it fades very quickly, so if you particularly like the watermelon and cucumber scent, you should reapply it briefly every hour.
The bottle is quite nice. The shape is rather simple, and I don't find it outstanding; more effort could have been put into it. However, the colors look beautifully summery and fresh. By the way, the bottle is transparent and looks better than you might think if you don't like the picture here on Parfumo.
CK One Summer 2015 is actually quite nice. I really like the opening with the watermelon, and it is also very fresh, and the first part of the heart note, where the cucumber comes in, still smells great. But after that, the scent drifts a bit into the mundane, which I find quite a shame, as the initially lovely notes get lost in the base. Well, there are better summer fragrances.
