Yesterday, my husband waved me over to the Calvin Klein stand.
Wow - does he actually have an interest in fragrances?
He pointed out ck Gold to me - with a pair of headphones as a goodie!
Aha, now I see where the wind is blowing from.
But since I have a few CK fragrances, I was also eager to test Gold.
And it is indeed a lovely uncomplicated unisex scent - very suitable for summer to autumn.
The subtly sweet fig particularly appeals to me - lightly spiced with sage.
Neroli is pleasantly cool, and the violet adds a subtle bitterness.
Vetiver with woody notes skillfully rounds off the fragrance without robbing it of its transparency.

I would have said "Yes!" to Gold even without the headphone goodie, but with the gimmick, the purchase is all the more worthwhile.

Now I am wearing Gold - and from the headphones, "Clocks" by Coldplay surrounds me.
A beautiful combination.

The King of Bling-Bling

When I first saw it on the shelf, I thought: Oh my God, "1 Million" says hello! The aesthetic minimalist Calvin Klein would probably never have commissioned this gold if he were still running his own shop - Bling-Bling is just not what you usually associate with the Calvin Klein brand. But one shouldn't be guided solely by appearances, so I was curious and actually tried it.

Even though it differs significantly from the original "cK one" and comes across as much sweeter, I still see it as a true flanker, as it varies the fruity-floral chypre theme. In part, "cK one Gold" fits into the pudding mainstream of recent years; on the other hand, it has a refined and light elegance reminiscent of the original "L'Homme" by Yves Saint Laurent. Cardamom, aldehydes, mandarin, melon, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, cedar, amber, and tonka set the tone. It comes across as lively as champagne and a Strauss waltz, yet thanks to its not-to-be-underestimated sillage, it is more suited for autumn and winter.

Conclusion: Even though it doesn't reinvent the wheel, it is damn well made - no scratching anywhere, the scent is not overwhelming, and in terms of aesthetics, it's more Joop! Jump or Go than Calvin Klein. So, if you're simply looking for a good scent, leaning towards the androgynous side, and nothing super-innovative, you are well served here.

Great Scent, Poor Performance

I accidentally sprayed this fragrance at Müller and then searched for it for days until I finally found it by chance...

I ordered it right away and was extremely disappointed..
Amazing scent, exactly my style, and a great bottle, but the fragrance lasts less than an hour on my skin... it's a shame that it just sits there now :/

showered in golden rays of sunshine

I acquired this fragrance a few years ago, when I hadn't yet developed my passion for scents. Back then, I was mainly attracted by what I consider to be a very stylish bottle. Considering my ignorance, it was truly a lucky find!

It starts off very fresh and somewhat citrusy. I smell spring, the first rays of sunshine on slowly warming days. Over time, it becomes sweeter, in a very pleasant way. I find the fruity sweetness beautifully balanced with fresh and woody notes.
The longevity could be better, but it lasts about 4-5 hours on me. So for a very fresh scent, that's quite okay.

I now always have it in my gym bag, but I have also worn it at work for a while. In summer, I enjoy wearing it every day as well.

The rosy fig in a golden dress. ...

Here I sit on the leisurely train, behind me the dinner from the red-gold fast-food chain is being unpacked....
A fresh breeze wouldn't be wrong right now, I thought, and generously applied the sample that had been thoughtfully packed into the bag for me at the Turkish place.

A fresh breeze is also what rises from my wrists; I smell fig, or rather fig leaf; it could also be the combination of fig and sage, which I usually don't pick up at all. There’s something fresh upon spraying; that must be the bergamot.
In the top notes, there's quite a bit going on; I briefly perceive something floral, a lot of spice, zesty sweetness.
Then it becomes linear on my skin: fig and wood. This through the heart and base, and very quickly close to the skin. Delicious!

When the sample was tossed into the bag, I thought, "Nice, but such a flanker won't be anything new."
That's true, but in a different way: At first, the scent is still undecided between Womanity and Womanity Aqua Chic, then it increasingly leans towards the latter....

For me, no problem; Aqua Chic has been discontinued, and as a big fan, I have today found a possible successor, should my beloved bottle of WAC ever run out!!
