Soft flowers
This was a great surprise again. When I read the smell pyramid, I thought that these are obviously too many flowers for me.
Missing far. Yes, I was greeted of a sea of flowers which, however, wonderfully softly spreads on my skin. Head and heart notes change quite quietly into each other.
Surrounded by the woody notes I don't feel any sweet or heaviness at all.
This skin flatterer could accompany me the whole day.

Non-Vintage Non-Fairytale
I hunted down a vintage bottle and there is no comparison whatsoever to this 1993 Fleur de Rocaille (no s) version, which misses the former’s bergamot, carnation, musk, and rosewood. Unfortunate, because without them the wicked stepsisters, narcissus and lily-of-the-valley enter and stomp all over Cinderella’s pretty gown. To me, this version doesn't live up to the rest of Caron.

A Complex Syrupy Floral Fragrance
Fleur de Rocaille is a really thick, honeyed floral scent, which can sometimes be a little too overpowering for my tastes.

Whenever I smell this fragrance, I feel like I'm getting whacked in the face with a large bouquet of colourful flowers, and stung by a few bees in the process. Not many people are mentioning the dominant carnation note in this formulation. I'm smelling carnations by the bucket-load.

If I were to catch a subtle waft of this fragrance on a passer-by, I think I might enjoy it. However when you wear this fragrance on your own skin, it can be rather headache inducing. Intense and aggressive are two words that I would definitely use to describe Fleur de Rocaille.

There's lots of rose, jasmine, carnation, ylang ylang, lilac and mimose in this fragrance. Just when you think that Fleur de Rocaille can't get any heavier, an amber note comes along and amps up the sillage, adding a syrupy texture.

Apparently the original Fleur(s) de Rocaille wears closer to the skin, so perhaps I should try and track down the older formulation. Who knows why Caron released this confusing Fleur de Rocaille perfume, especially seeing that it shares little, to no relation to the original.

I still have a lot of respect for the house of Caron, even though this fragrance has been a disappointment for me. At the very least, I can say that the longevity and sillage are way out of this world. You'll be smelling Fleur de Rocaille for days.

The updated FdR
The fruity sweet mimosa and formulation is showing some age. A product of the 90s..out of step with modern sensibilities. I wish Caron focused more intently on preserving Daltroffs Classics carefully much like Guerlain has tried. This is a different scent than the original its based on.
If u like scents like Volupte or Champs Elysees this will work for you.

The Spirit of Rococo
In my city, there is a Rococo hall that was not destroyed and never needed restoration. If the archives are to be believed, Marie Antoinette danced there. Of course, there is no heating and no electricity, and at the rare concerts held there, the chandeliers are adorned with hundreds of candles, so that the hall is still bathed in festive light by its abundant gold and mirrors. The term Rococo is derived from the rocailles, those playful ornaments that are so typical of the style.

When I spray Fleur de Rocaille, this playful splendor radiates towards me. It is not the force of the Baroque, nor the romantic kitsch of other floral perfumes that imposes itself on me. Yes, the scent is floral, but also majestic, even somewhat aloof. This is how one experiences the mentioned hall on weekdays, when one is lucky enough to stand alone in it, without tourists and without the murmurs of tour guides. Simply standing and looking, or in our case, smelling.

The floral heart note soon gives way to a fine soapiness, without losing elegance. I could imagine that a pure perfume of Chanel No. 5, after many hours on the skin, could have a similar effect. I have never experienced that.

The base is then no longer particularly spectacular. It is simple and beautiful and lasts about 2 hours on me, then the fine impression dissipates, leaving me with the desire to wear this scent more often. Not in the evening, at grand celebrations, that place is held by Jicky for me, and not in everyday life with house cleaning, shopping, and tax returns, but in leisurely free time, a time of leisure, when one can engage with the beautiful things in life.

Unpretentious gardenia and lily of the valley cool the scent down to a fresh-soapy-crisp distance. It has its charm.

Wonderful full-floral, no single flower dominates, finely herbal, not sweet, rather lightly green, hardly any powder on me, very classic.

Ideal scent for flu season: first, suffocate the viruses with narcotic flowers, then elegantly crush them with strict soap.

Very classic, sleek, and pretty. Reminds me of Chanel No.5 EdP. I would prefer it due to its naturalness.

This version still contained Lyral, so I definitely smell more "floral" notes here, especially sweet jasmine. Not bad at all!

Intense floral, strong gardenia. Cool, distinctive, not sweet, elegant. A lot in it that I like. Still, I can't warm up to the scent.

An unconventional floral scent with a biting soapy note and a high recognition factor. Reformulated! Softer in the past. Difficult to wear.

It develops on me pleasantly long-lasting green-powdery, haven't received this many compliments in a while, I urgently need to repurchase!
