Little fluffy clouds // 91 years? Really?
(Little fluffy clouds, The Orb; The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld, 1991)
Yes, the perfume is a bit newer, but it fits nonetheless. And it hasn’t been discontinued yet! At least I think so…
So. First? Was it really that hard? Did it really take 91 years to finally remove the unnecessary vanilla from the popular, 'supposed' classic (NOT for me!) and let my lavender be lavender? Apparently.
Well. Better late than never.
I could never stand the original. I love lavender. Why degrade it with vanilla? I never understood that…
This here is not just an upgrade for me; it is the only version, better, no, MUCH better than the original. No matter how heretical that sounds.
No vanilla = better. Period.
This is still quite fluffy, though. They didn’t dare to go all the way with the hard lavender edge. Whatever.
This is really quite good!
Pleasantly fresh citrus notes in the opening, lavender is very quickly present. The rose geranium replaces the vanilla, but is a bit too pronounced. Hence the point deduction. A little too soft and fluffy/floral. They could have dosed it a bit more discreetly for my taste, but whatever. Amber helps with the fluffiness, vetiver helps to keep it a bit greener and fresher.
All in all, a very pleasant lavender scent that thankfully gets by WITHOUT vanilla. But it could have been a bit tighter. Perfect for spring when the sun is shining at 15-20° Celsius and only a few little fluffy clouds are passing by…
That’s exactly what it smells like.
Longevity is surprisingly good for me, sillage does decrease after 4-5 hours.
All in all, definitely the best from the Pour Un Homme line. By far. The one made for me. Without vanilla. That’s why.
