My First Own Oud Fragrance
Before a ramen date with my wife, I strolled through the main metropolis and received the tip from a good friend to check out his favorite perfumery. After the huge selection that almost overwhelmed me, I sniffed around a bit (hehe).
Many fragrances made my nose blind, so after about 6-7 scents, I left the store again. Just before leaving, I accidentally sprayed a little Oud Excelsa on my fingers and thought while smelling it, “phew, that smells a bit bad.” Fast forward - as we were later walking through the city on our way to the restaurant, I noticed such a delicious scent on me that I had to smell myself several times until I realized it was the Caron fragrance for which I am writing this review.
As already mentioned, the fragrance initially has an oud-stinky note, which fades away during the dry down. At least the stinky part does. After that, the scent unfolds. It becomes sweet, the leathery/woody aspect of the top note remains, and the floral scent mentioned in the notes here on Parfumo comes to the fore.
I find the fragrance simply outstanding and had to immediately check if I could buy it here or online, as the P/L is quite steep in my opinion. I was able to stock up here in the souk with a decant from a super nice souk partner. In the future, I will definitely be buying a bottle of this!
