A very specific type...
I was very excited when I received mail from Paris today. Two samples from CARON. And it is particularly special when "Madame" is written on the envelope - it adds a bit of shine to the day ;-)
Inside the envelope are the samples "Santal Précieux" and "TABAC BLOND". And for me, SP completely overshadows TB, but tastes differ, and SP has an absolute "I want to order this right away" character for me.
Sprayed on, waited, worked. Sprayed on, waited, worked.
And with each spray, a very specific type of woman immediately comes to mind. A fragile, slightly tanned type of woman, with long brunette hair, well-groomed long fingers, a delicate neck, but a visible jugular vein that shows she is a strong-willed woman. Dressed coolly and figure-hugging, perhaps in blue jeans and a simple white shirt, and of course with a discreet Hermés belt and maybe even Hogan sneakers or perhaps rather high heels.
In any case, her wealth is evident, with little jewelry but expensive. She doesn’t look at other people because she knows she is the one being discreetly observed and is in no way impressed by it.
She is someone you simply have to look at, and if I were, for example, sitting next to her at the airport and could catch a whiff of Santal Précieux on my nostrils - it would just make this image of the woman even more perfect.
Even though it doesn’t appear in the description and isn’t mentioned on CARON’s website, I could swear there is a hint of leather in it. It smells very soft, feminine, and confident, and there is this sandalwood with its earthy-woody note in connection with leather(?!), and what about the milk? Is it the one that lays this softness over all the components? Can milk actually be extracted in a fragrance? Is that possible? I would be very grateful if you could answer this question for me!
Santal Précieux is so balanced in its composition, nothing stands out unpleasantly or disturbs my perception. After 4 hours and two sprays, it is more intimate.
In the store of The Merchant of Venice in Sienna, a salesperson once told me to spray a bit of my fragrance on a cloth and place it in my handbag so that when I open the bag, the noble note of my perfume is released. I don’t follow this advice with every one of my fragrances, but it would suit Santal Précieux.
Why does it only get a 9.5 from me? Because it indeed becomes intimate quickly; it could be louder for longer, which would suit SP well, but all in all, it’s an excellent fragrance composition for me!
So, the end of my song today is that I now lean back relaxed at my desk and need to do a bit of googling ;-)...
