A bright fire blazes at the start of the beautiful season...
... on the night of May 1st, not only in Ireland/Scotland but also in Germany or Scandinavia (although there are a few witches added to the fire...) . Beltane marks the beginning of the summer half-year and is the wedding festival of heaven and earth, which brings fertility and blessings. And in keeping with this festival, Cloon Keen throws us a beautiful bridal bouquet. "This is our most popular fragrance," purrs the now much more committed sales lady. Mhhh that might convince some bros who are looking for compliments - but not me per se. Just because all the lemmings are jumping off the cliff... and so on... well, while I'm here, I might as well try it out, after all, when do you get the chance to get your hands on this Irish liquid gold?
I still have free limbs left for spraying and while Bel Étage gently sloshes its lavender in small waves towards me from the left, something is brewing on the right (please don't take this literally).
The sun-ripened tangerine, wonderfully unsweet combined with pepper/anglica, smiles at you with an unexpected bang for the Cloon Keen fragrances. If the other fragrances on the silage scale of 1-10 are around 3 to 4, here we have a 6-7! Wow! For the first time, you have to think about the dosage - overdosing is de facto impossible with the fragrance colleagues. The olfactory seismometer goes off.
Just as I start to wonder whether the whole thing might be drifting too much in a fruity direction, the heart note follows like a tsunami after a seaquake. I like roses, I like jasmine and here they both come around the corner in a fantastically headache-free, authentically floral way and without any sugar-coating. Without knowing the fragrance pyramid, I would have guessed musk, but okay, angelica root is not that far off. Beautifully balanced between the opulent florality and a balsamic, warm creaminess - VERY feminine! But not in the direction of sexy femme fatale, but warm, soft, secure ... expressed in colors white-yellow, no green.
I can elicit a "smells good" from my husband, who is a master of anti-compliments and a discreet flower hater! Shortly before the olfactory knighthood, so to speak.
[Editor's note: Patchouli is conspicuous by its absence and is not missed; the combination of neroli and patch usually sets alarm bells ringing for me (refreshing wipes)... there is no danger here]
Of the four Cloon Keen fragrances I know, Lá Bealtaine has the best longevity (followed by Bel Étage , then Báinín . Frosted Moon unfortunately disappeared extremely quickly on me)
Even my all-absorbing skin doesn't swallow it and I can still feel it after 5-6 hours.
A very great spring fragrance that - carefully dosed - is also suitable for summer. Only at very high temperatures can I imagine that the flowers become too much of a good thing. The name and thematic implementation are great, 1a with an asterisk.
