Off Balance...
This is the first tested of my Divine Sample Coffret. I received the version for men as well, but this version appealed more. First off, the opening of this fragrance is quite fresh, and appealing. As well as the bergamont, the nectarine note is very noticable, and blends very well with the neroli. I really enjoyed the opening, and it didn't fade quickly, but drifted in to the middle notes nice and slow. Then I started to detect a salty note..perhaps the immortelle flowers, as they can portray a slightly salty note, to me anyway). I couldn't really pick up a lot of jasmine or the rose to be honest, as the immortelle was always at the forefront. After about an hour, I started to notice a whiff of smoke...very light, but a definite smokey tinge. This was also quite nice, and put a warm sort of edge to the fragrance. Then the whole thing was more or less thrown off balance...by the arrival of vetiver! This ruined the dry down for me, and unbalanced the whole fragrance. It just doesn't fit in the equation! It seems to somewhat cheapen the whole effect. If they had just left out this note, the sandalwood, amber, and touch of vanilla would have been a lovely ending.
