Let's Play Ladies!
Time to get out the hats and gloves! Make-up carefully applied, with some fancy jewellery. Divine comes across as a real Ladies fragrance. I imagine this been worn in the 40's and 50's, as it has a real old fashioned floral vibe. The opening doesn't last very long...as the peach and coriander seem to run straight into the flowers. And this is a large bouquet of flowers! Tuberose being in the opening, seems to be the leader all throughout this fragrance. It remains strong, and somewhat independent. Almost like it doesn't like sharing the stage with the Jasmine and rose. Which, both are very faint. Patchouli is listed, but I really can't detect it. The dry down is nice, but still old fashioned. It has quite good longevity, and sillage is average. Tuberose lovers will enjoy this fragrance, and vintage lovers certainly need to try this. I won't be purchasing this one, as so far I have only fallen for one of my six samples. But if you are looking for a nice dress up, and ladylike fragrance...this may be the one for you!

Do not rush to conclusions
Divine is a misleading scent in the opening.
My first impression was that I was wearing Jill Sander No 4 or First by Van Cleef and Arpels . Not something I was expecting. Peach was never a favorite ingredient for me but luckily the first impression vanished fast and I started feeling the tuberose in its full splendor. No orange blossom and jasmine. I could not perceive them at all because the oak moss and the tuberose were having a party. It softened in time and was a pleasure to wear it.
It was like a story of an old overcoat, worn out and odd looking. An overcoat that once taken off showed underneath a beautiful tailored dress. Just like that.
Divine has the richness of old times and places. It is suited for galas and dress up ceremonies . It is like an eye-catching piece of jewelry .
The longevity is very good, of about 8 hrs and the sillage is not a shy one.
The bottle will hold for years, maybe, since such a scent need special moments and state of mind. I will start to wear it a little, every day so that to discover its switches and turns and see where it leads.

Gorgeous!
The opening, specifically the STRONG white floral note combined with the hint of coriander, remind me of the altar at a Hindu temple, as specific of a reference as that is (I promise it's good!). The scent evolves fairly quickly, a sweetness appearing within the first hour of wear and the spiciness of the initial scent wearing off. The scent definitely has a powdery quality without being too dry or artificial. Classy, timeless, and a great value for the price.

Divine!
Sunday evening - time for secret indulgences: That's when I can quietly try out perfumes that I wouldn't want to wear around others. For example, this wonderful perfume that simply bears the name of the brand Divine - or is it the other way around?

Divine is a great, feminine, floral perfume: exactly the kind that makes me turn my head - and I don't often turn my head for ladies! It's the gardenia and tuberose that take center stage; that's what makes me weak. The whole thing is then served on a bright and light base that contains a lot of moss. There's musk in it too, but neither particularly powdery nor soapy. It feels more like an intimate skin scent to me.

Surely Divine has had inspirations, but I'm not very familiar with them. I'm a fan of gardenia, yet I find some current gardenia scents strange. Gardenia seems to have a bit of a grandma image, and so perfumers try to distort the wonderful scent of gardenia to make it seem more contemporary. Here's my overview so far:

- Flowers for Men: Gardenia by Neil Morris: well done, very grassy and a bit tart - Unisex works!

- Volo AZ 686 by Profvmum Roma: Gardenia as an arbitrary addition to a lavish perfume in another direction,

- Gardenia Grand Soir by Parfumerie Generale: Not at all - toned down with green and fresh notes to become an arbitrary office scent!

I don't quite understand how one can rob gardenia of its style. Divine has not done that. With Divine, we don't have a soliflore, but at least a beautiful bouquet that showcases the character of gardenia perfectly - that's exactly what the perfect "Grand Soir" perfume is, and not Pierre Guillaume's interpretation!

A note: Directly on the skin, Divine smells a bit sharp and perhaps "grandma-like." Only from a bit of distance does everything come together into a fluffy carpet of fragrance. The usual sniffing method when testing should be avoided. Divine cannot be forced like that - it's better to surround yourself with a small cloud and let this floral breeze waft over you from time to time.

In my eyes, Divine remains very much rooted in tradition. It is well done, needing neither gimmicks nor pandering modernity. Surely many will reject such a traditional, feminine perfume. But I think wearing Divine is not a question of age, but rather of style and personality!

A note about the brand Divine: you can hardly find it in perfumeries. For a small amount of money, you can get a sample set at www.divine.fr.

For the Lady of the World
Is there a commonality between Miss Dior, Femme by Rochas, L`Air du Temps, Private Collection, or, for example, Nuit de Lonchamp? At first glance, certainly not, but the wearers of these perfumes surely belong to the noble circle of ladies who understand themselves as such and truly are. They no longer chase every fashion, they do not need a fragrance with a loud sillage to attract attention, and they know what they want and get it.

Divine first surprises with a spicy top note, where the loudness of coriander is clearly tempered by the peach. It’s almost the other way around; the peach gains fullness and aroma from the coriander. How lovely, no bergamot, no citrusy opening, but immediately bright and expressive is this introduction. And how, through the hint of coriander, these wonderful floral notes emerge, not as so often afterwards. Intense, yet bright and light. No, this is not a contradiction. The floral notes are strong, but they do not weigh down; the scent floats despite its opulence, and the wearer with it.

The floral notes slowly recede, revealing a warm, powdery-aromatic base that remains bright until the scent fades away. Truly elegant until the end, this perfume is one that I find beautiful.

Beautiful classic floral scent with fruity and soapy notes. Elegant 80s opulence that doesn't become overwhelming.

Divine in the royal class: the scent combines subtle chypre notes with a powerful floral presence: more of a diva than a queen: it has aura!

Back in the 80s, but without shoulder pads. After all the niche excursions, a calming presence in the collection. Welcome back Divine.

Tuberose, O-flower & Rose create a somewhat vintage, waxy-herbaceous light green rose scent with subtle sweetness. Civet nuance in the finish. Unique.

Starts fruity-floral, becomes slightly soapy and increasingly powdery.
Can't deny its 80s origins & is really well made.

Pleasantly rounded, tuberose-dominated floral scent. Only slightly sweet and unobtrusive. 60s retro touch.

Something from BACK to the 80's - just the right mix of sweet, opulent, floral, creamy, and powdery! .. and the tuberose is in the air :-))
