Affordable Surprise
Mini golf is to blame. Without it, I would never have thought to go to Douglas to test one of their products from the own brand, which tends to lean towards simplicity.
And indeed: A beautiful scent. I acknowledge the similarity to “Eau de Shalimar,” but not so much to Fenjala - at least not to the (quite pleasant) scent that was included with the body lotion I bought just a few weeks ago.
The fragrance starts light and citrus-fruity, reminiscent of elegant Italian colognes with mandarin and zesty lemon oil, evoking images of the Riviera, fitted dresses, and skillfully tied scarves.
Soon, vanilla strolls around the corner, in a good mood and in no hurry at all. This vanilla has a dry temperament, but also a big warm heart. It stops here and there, has a little chat, flirts a bit with the flower vendor on the corner, briefly sniffs some spices at the spice stand, enjoys meeting friends, jasmine is already there, creamy sandalwood joins the little group and settles in, warm resinous notes soon make their appearance and like to linger.
This is a cheerful little group of friends, now strolling together in the warm late afternoon light over the cobbled historic marketplace of an Italian town, stylishly dressed, elegantly without any effort. They are not sweet, not anymore; they are women, not girls, but they have stayed young and know their effect.
