I had the pleasure of purchasing the fragrance Perpetual by Moresque in a charming perfumery in Holland. The shopping experience was exceptional: The friendly and knowledgeable advice, as well as the elegant yet inviting atmosphere, made the visit unforgettable. I tested several fragrances, but one scent enchanted me immediately...
Perpetual is a beautiful cherry fragrance that stands out for its subtle balance. Compared to some other cherry scents, which often tend to be either too sweet, synthetic, fruity, or too spicy, Perpetual strikes just the right note. The cherry note is present but never overpowering, making the fragrance perfect for everyday wear and also for summer.
My greatest love for cherry fragrances is and remains "Duchessa | Gritti," which I only wear on special occasions. With notes of marzipan and saffron, Duchessa comes across as very oriental and spicy, which is why I tend to wear it more in the autumn/winter.
"Perpetual | Moresque," on the other hand, is somewhat fruitier and fresher with a more linear scent progression, at least that's how I perceive it.
From the first spritz, Perpetual exudes a refreshing and at the same time sensual, velvety cherry note. Unlike Duchessa, which offers a more intense and spicier sweetness, Perpetual remains lighter and airier. The fruity freshness of the cherry is complemented by a subtle floral note that adds depth to the fragrance without overwhelming it.
I detect a harmonious blend of sweet and sour notes; the cherry provides a fruity sweetness that is enlivened by the zesty freshness of orange. The heart note reveals a warming almond note, which gains a slight spiciness from a hint of ginger. Floral nuances of rose and jasmine give the fragrance a delicate, floral dimension.
The base of the fragrance is particularly fascinating in my opinion. The sweetness of sugar and tonka bean is balanced by a clean musk note that imparts freshness and lightness to the scent. Sandalwood and patchouli ground the composition, giving it depth and longevity.
This fragrance is a true all-rounder for me and can be worn both during the day and in the evening. Its sweet lightness and elegance make it ideal for warm summer days, but it also has enough presence to shine on special occasions. I personally do not perceive the scent on myself for long, however, others have mentioned that the sillage is very present. The longevity is impressive without being overwhelming, which underscores the subtle elegance of the perfume.
This gentle sweet-sour cherry composition makes the fragrance an indispensable companion - for me and for anyone looking for a fruity fresh yet elegant scent. The purchase in the wonderful perfumery, where I could explore without pressure, made the experience even more unforgettable.
